has this ever actually been corroborated by Urban or Somers... and if so, were terms of the contract offer ever released? people can make offers just to say they made them, knowing full well, they player would never take such a paycut if it was beyond lowball.

One or both reported discussions in April or May of 2013.

James Harrison was cut more than once and kept at it and became a probowler so I'm not writing of Sam nor am I saying he is being discriminated against. I have zero doubts that there are some teams who want to avoid the potential locker room issues or media circus.

We don't know about locker room issues, but there's been no media circus from what I've noted.

Yep, should have typed perceived media circus. I'm sure some FO's are concerned there could be a media circus even though after the first practice or two with the Rams you never really heard much about Sam. There was the ESPN report about players not wanting to shower with him but that died quickly.

I do not care about his sexual orientation and I doubt that most players do, just as I do not care about his combine results... it seems he has a knack of getting to the QB and till he shows me he cannot in a regular season chance, I think he would be a good to try out

Per Jurecki, it was 1 year $3 mil.

1. Kerry Rhodes was offered a contract at reduce rate by the Cards and turned it down.

2. Guys getting cut multiple times before finding a home is hardly novel in football.

Ok who else got cut from a practice squad this week? This month? Where is the thread about bringing them in?

And Kerry Rhodes wanting to test the market does not explain why he never played again, when he was adamant that he wanted to.

The Cowboys are in desperate need of a pass rusher. Sam never made it off their practice squad.

It's pretty well known they offered him an extension and he wanted to " test the market"

eh... that's not awful.

Turning down a Cards offer (1-year deal for $3M) should help explain why he never played again.

Lots of speculation in the article, including over-reaction to a player comment, and difficulty adjusting to Canadian football. It's all weird.

“Everything that has been said is done,” head coach Tom Higgins said following Saturday night’s exhibition game against the Ottawa Redblacks. “A lot of things happened and unfolded. That’s not to be discussed. We’re putting that behind us.”

Popp added: “There’s nothing to tell you. He wanted to go home, and that’s what he did. I don’t know why. When a guy wants to go home, they go home. He had some personal things to take care of.

The Montreal Alouettes suspended defensive end Michael Sam on Monday, a move that frees a roster spot while allowing the Alouettes to retain Sam's CFL rights.

Jeez...I hope he gets his mind right and doesn't give up on football.

Yeah, I want more information about this "suspension" before coming to a conclusion about this situation. Sam did what I felt was best for his career and went to Canada.

If I read correctly, the suspension came after, and was an administrative formality to hold his rights in case he wanted to return

There sure is a lot of wasted time and space on a guy who will never likely play a down on NFL football.
