So I guess those $5000 suites they are forced to where after games are not professional because they have long hair?

Let me ask you then, would you not call this guy a professional since it looks like his hair would come out of a helmet?

You must be registered for see images attach

He is professional! That is no doubt. His hair is nowhere even near like the type of hair we are talking about here. Mr. Branson cleans up nicely. Ive seen it.

Plus Branson isn't on a team, wearing a uniform, working for an organization that lives or dies by public perception, and he doesn't need to worry about his long hair being a safety concern. I'm still not taking sides but this discussion of "professionalism" is way down the wrong path. You can be professional with any arrangement of hair, fashion. jewerly, or etc., you just can conform on a team in a league of teams when you violate uniform regulations (which are there for safety, asthetics, etc.). No one is at fault yet, but if the regulation is put in (by business savvy owners who are trying to enhance the image of the league) then players should abide by it or go find a new job.

My question had nothing to do with safety. Shane said professionals should look like professionals. By Shane's definition, Branson is not a professional.

I hope Tom Brady never cuts his hair again and the leauge then tells him to cut it or find a new job. That would cause the biggest uproar every.

Beside, I have not issues if it is a safety concear and no one is saying they have to cut it, they said it can be tucked under the helmet, so I doubt this is a issue thing.

Long hair is long hair. If the rule is it can not come out of the helmet, then that is the rule, you can not make exceptions because it is long, but not as long as others.

I agree. If Mr. Branson played football he would have to conform to the rule. However he is likely the most successful CEO in the world arguably. Thus he lives by his own rules. Doesnt mean that I would have to think he "looks" professional.

I do think that a professional "should" look professional. They dont "need" to however. You said that not me. Those words make the statement profoundly different. Nice try though.

He is held to a higher standard I agree. Problem is he is the man at the top with nobody to tell him what he should do. The players still answer to a higher power. He doesnt. Apples to oranges on the highest level.

HAIR-GATE???

With the NFL's purported attempt to move the tonsorial hairstyle clock, "Back To The 50's", Chris Mortensen of ESPN is now reporting a possible reason behind the sudden "interest" in a player's long locks.

It appears that the ubiquitous male hair styling salon "Fantastic Sam's" is going to become the new sponsor of the NFL's instant replay system. "From now on", NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was not quoted as saying, "every instant replay will be introduced with an animation of Fantastic Sam giving a player a buzzcut while the logo - "Fantastic Sam's Close Shave of the Day!" flashes across the screen.

"We might have stumbled into a whole new category of revenue enhancements," Mr. Goodell continued, "the sky's the limit!"

In a related story, Mr. Goodell has confirmed that the League has been in discussions with a leading Bug Spray manufacturer to sponsor penalties during the game. League sources say that the traditional yellow flag is expected to become a "Black Flag" sometime in the 2010 season.

Speaking as someone who himself, has long hair, this rule wouldn't bother me as long as they weren't forced to cut it. I have worked jobs before where I was required to wear it in a pony tail or in a hat, and that was fine with me. The NFL has no right to ask them to cut it, but if they want it up in the helmet, that seems fair enough.

To those of you who say long hair looks unprofessional, it depends on how well kept it is. I work for IBM in a data center, it's a very professional environment, and there are several guys here with long hair. Mine is down to the middle of my back and no one ever complains. If I were playing football though, where someone might tackle me by my hair, I would put it up by personal choice. Last thing I would want is to be pulled to the ground by my friggin hair.
