BUT we need LBs so bad it isn't funny...we could live with our current group of DEs but with Dansby gone, Okeafor, Berry & Haggans old, Davis & Brown coming off of injuries our LBs could be an even bigger problem next season.

Anyone know if this is supposed to be a strong draft class for LBs?

tackle is way down the list man, maybe a middle rounder. This team biggest weakness is defensively...still!!! And it all starts on the edges.

Well anything is possible in the NFL draft, we'll just pray all the 3-4 teams ahead of us are under the impression he was drafted top 5 and is no longer on the board. There aren't a whole lot of 3-4 teams drafting and nearly all of them have much bigger needs than OLB, so we might get lucky here. It'd be nice if Hughes or Miller fell to us, but if we're drafting at #32 that might not be so likely

   11/20/09: Compares to Elvis Dumervil; undersized but makes up for it with relentless pass rushing. Von Miller has 18.5 TFL and 15 sacks as a junior, beating Russell Okung on a few occasions. Any 3-4 team would love to have him.

   2/16/09: Though he was just a first-year starter in 2008, the hard-working Sergio Kindle made a name for himself, notching 46 tackles, 12.5 TFL and 10 sacks. He also blocked a kick. With another stellar season, he'll be the top rush linebacker in the 2010 NFL Draft.

   11/14/09: Eric Norwood has 10.5 TFL and seven sacks in 2009. He also has two blocked kicks and 62 total tackles.
   
   9/12/09: There is no clear-cut favorite as the top rush linebacker in the 2010 NFL Draft, but that could quickly change if Eric Norwood continues to dominate his opponents like he did against N.C. State last week. Norwood finished with eight tackles, two TFL and two sacks. The Wolfpack didn't have much of an answer for him.
   
   2/12/09: A monstrous pass-rusher, Eric Norwood collected 14.5 TFL and nine sacks as a junior.

   7/30/08: Ricky Sapp's 40 will intrigue some GMs and coaches. Sapp was a nightmare for opposing signal callers, as he racked up 22 quarterback pressures and six sacks in 2007.

   12/7/08: Brandon Spikes has been a beast this year, and is almost a first-round lock. Going into the SEC Championship, Spikes recorded 80 tackles, eight TFL, two sacks and four picks (two returned for touchdowns.)
   
   5/11/08: In addition to being a sound tackler (a whopping 131 stops in 2007), Brandon Spikes is also great in pass coverage.
   
   2007: The centerpiece of Florida's defense despite being only a sophomore. Either leading the Gators in tackles or sacking opposing quarterbacks on multiple occasions every single week.

   2/19/09: Sean Lee needs to prove that he's not a risk, given that he's coming off a torn ACL. Lee was a former first-round prospect.

   2/19/09: Baylor was competitive in 2008 for a number of reasons, one of which was Joe Pawelek. The All-Big XII first-teamer totaled 128 tackles, six TFL, seven passes broken up and an amazing six interceptions.
   
   5/11/08: Joe Pawelek managed 99 tackles, eight tackles for loss and two sacks. He needs to improve his 40 to sneak into the first few rounds.
   
   2007: I guess when you're playing for Baylor, it's easy to get on the field. Or maybe Joe Pawelek is just that good; as a freshman, Pawelek recorded 86 tackles. As a sophomore, he was named a team captain.

Rolondo McClain is the pick for us. He could easily be available as well. My second choice of guys who'd likley be there is Norwood from S.Carolina. Hufghes will be gone and ,i think, Kindle is overrated. Sapp from Clemson would be nice in round 3 but thta's probably a little late for him. Now, if the Cards deal Boldin and get a 2nd rounder that opens up a lot of guys to the Cards. OLB may not be as big of need as some think because Cody Brown and Davis both will be back next year. The perfect draft for me would be getting a 2nd for Boldin then taking McClain, Anthony Davis, OT Rutgers, Javier Arenas CB Bama who would also be our new punt returner, and Ricky Sapp in round 3.

For what it's worth this is what Kiper says about the upcoming draft:

"If you have a need for a good interior or edge lineman -- or even an outside guy in a 3-4 -- this is a draft in which you should be able to get a lot of value."

That is good news for Cards as these are big needs for us.

I would take a flyer on Sean Lee out of Penn State. Plays faster than his time and has a good head on his shoulders. Besides they con't call it linebacker U for nothing.
