If we draft in the 20's

And as Iowa LBers go, I think Edds has a brighter NFL future than Angerer. I don't know how effective Pat would be sticking his nose into a lineman and I don't know if he can fight through the wash.

This draft has a plethora of rush linebackers and linemen. We'll be fine, especially if some of the underclassmen come out.

Rolondo McClain is the pick for us. He could easily be available as well. My second choice of guys who'd likely be there is Norwood from S.Carolina. Hufghes will be gone and ,i think, Kindle is overrated. Sapp from Clemson would be nice in round 3 but that's probably a little late for him. Now, if the Cards deal Boldin and get a 2nd rounder that opens up a lot of guys to the Cards. OLB may not be as big of need as some think because Cody Brown and Davis both will be back next year. The perfect draft for me would be getting a 2nd for Boldin then taking McClain, Anthony Davis, OT Rutgers, Javier Arenas CB Bama who would also be our new punt returner, and Ricky Sapp in round 3.

What I like about Kindle is that he started off as a OLB in a 4-3 and moved to DE full time this year. OLB in a 3-4 is a hybrid of the 2 so he won't be a liability in coverage during the times when he's not rushing the passer. I don't think he's the best pure pass rusher available but I think that because of how he would fit in to a 3-4 scheme he'll be a more productive pro than college player.

I actually like Kindle.....at strongside linebacker. He's not as great a pass rusher compared to his peers in class, but I like how well he plays against the run. He'd be a really good replacement for Chike in the future.

alot of us thought that about Beanie last year. He should be, but i really don't think he'll be a top 10 pick only because teams put such a premium on QB, OT,DT and DE/OLB pass rushers.

On Kindle used to being a linebacker, that is a good point but I am not so sure how good a point it is. He was not asked to play like a normal linebacker his first two years. He was a backup who was brought in soley for the purpose of blitzing.

On last years draft class, English would have been nice but not a single team was offering a 1st rounder, so that was a pipe dream. As for the other Linebackers available to us when ever we picked ,99% of them have have shown just as much as Will Davis has shown and what Cody Brown might have shown. We drafted two Rush backers in last years draft. Not sure what else we could have done, besides realistic trades that is, of which we dont even know we did or didnt try.

My currect lists for Rush Backer and WILB (to replace Dansby). Note that some may be left off not because I dont think they are good prospects but I dont think they will work in our scheme.(see thread I posted)

Note that these top two guys I think will be gone in the first 15 picks. Game tape and their measurables will blow teams away.

3. Eric Norwood

Honestly I dont think you can go wrong with any of those top 3.

Great post Joe. You and I see very eye to eye on player evals. The only thing I may disagree on is Kindle. Your write-up on him sounds exactly like the reasons I was giving for not wanting to spend a 1st rounded on Calais Campbell (other than the fact that they play different positions) 2 years ago. With that said, I wouldn't like to see us take Kindle with a first this year either.

I feel we NEED to go OT or WILB with our first rounder. That is assuming we don't acquire more picks, though I believe Dockett and Boldin will likely be gone after the season. We are never gonna pay 9-0 what he wants/deserves and while Q's situation hasn't changed, a decision has to be made regarding Breaston. That will impact what is done with Q IMO.

I believe the Cardinals are willing to pay both 9-0 and Q what they deserve, just not what they want!

Then why did they balk at paying Q like they promised they wouldn't do? Why would you want them to pay Dockett what he deserves? He has proven himself to be better than Haynesworth and Haynesworth is making 100 mill. You want us to shell that out for a lineman?

I honestly think Brandon Spikes will slide into in the second unless someone falls in love with him in the late first. McClain is much more complete than Spikes and at this point MLB doesn't seem to be a priority for a lot of teams this year.

here is the thing... with Dansby all but gone, we will need an ILB.. and if McClain is anywhere NEAR where we draft we would be smart to trade up and grab him in the late teens...

I know I may be in the minorty, but I like Spikes, and would take him late in the first with our first round pick....

Kindle scares the CRAP out of me.... some team will fall in love with his athletiscm and measurables, but 3 sacks in a below average Big12 is REALLY low....

Dpn't know a lot about sapp... but if Joe is high on him, so am I ...

Here is what i see B. Spikes & McClain going.

10. Denver (from Chicago) - McClain - A. Davis is getting very long in the tooth and they have been giving up tons of yardage in the middle.

21. NYG - B. Spikes - Antonio Pierce might be out for the rest of the season and they need a serious upgrade in the middle.

There are two other players in the draft that I LOOOVE... not sure they are immediate needs, but I think they will be solid, and the Cards would benifit from both:

Jason Pierre-Paul- DE South Florida
Jermaine Gressam- TE Oklahoma

I know Gresham is hurt, but he was a productive senior season away from being a top 5 pick...

He is an antonio gates and his blocking has improved every year... Our offense may not NEED a potenially elite TE, but if we had one who could dominate the middle of the field, defense would not be able to bracket Fitz anymore, and the underneath stuff would be WIDE OPEN for Breaston and Q...

Paul- a 6'6 athletic mamoth that I have personally watched a ton of this year and have to say he probab;y won't be there, but if he is, the Cards should SERIOUSLY consider taking him.... Paul, Campbell and Dockett would be such a force for the defense for years to come...

Again there is a chance neither of these guys are there when we pick, but IMO, These are two of the best players in the 2010 draft...
