We would be in. We are in right now if the season ended so it wouldnt change if we won out which WILL NOT HAPPEN!

If we win out we would at least have the WC. There are two teams with 6-6 records right now, Detroit & Minnesota. We beat Detroit so if we both are 10-6 we go because the head to head is the tie-breaker. Minnesota is 2-3 in their division while we are 2-2. If we both win out their division record would be 3-3 while ours would be 4-2, so we would win that tiebreaker.

arent we locked into a playoff spot if we win out?

we already have the last WC spot - I assume we would keep it as long as we win?

The point is we are into December and right now we still control our own destiny as far as playoffs are concerned.

That has to be a good thing.

Will it be tough, sure it will but also the Division isn't out of reach either but for that we need help.

Not so fast there

Assuming Detroit drops out of the picture, that leaves the Cards and Vikings. If the Vikings are also 10-6, it goes to conference record since they did not play head to head. Both teams would be 7-5 in the NFC if they win out. Then it goes to games against common opponents (minimum 4 games) for the next tiebreaker. The Vikings get us there. They are 4-1 combined against Detroit, San Fran, Washington, and Atlanta (if they win out). The Cards are 2-3 against those teams if they win out.

So making the playoffs by winning out is not a lock, even if we manage to do it.

The Vikings need to lose. Or, if Detroit also wins out they will have a 4-2 division record that will trump Minnesota's 3-3 record. Then we win the HTH teibreaker with Detroit.

Division records of Cards and Vikings will NOT be used since they are in different divisions. That's only to resolve ties between teams in the same division.

1) Detroit will not beat both Dallas and Green Bay.

2) Have I ever mentioned how much I love the 49ers, Bears, Redskins and Broncos?

Wrong

If we win out we would at least have the WC. There are two teams with 6-6 records right now, Detroit & Minnesota. We beat Detroit so if we both are 10-6 we go because the head to head is the tie-breaker.

Correct - if the Cardinals end up tied ONLY with Detroit at 10-6, the Cardinals would get in ahead of Detroit based on the head-to-head win.

Minnesota is 2-3 in their division while we are 2-2. If we both win out their division record would be 3-3 while ours would be 4-2, so we would win that tiebreaker.

That's not how it works. Division records only come into play when breaking ties within a division, as between Minnesota and Detroit. So Detroit's NFC North division record currently puts them ahead of Minnesota within the NFC North, and the Cardinals are currently ahead of Detroit based on the head-to-head win.

But If the Cardinals end up tied ONLY with Minnesota at 10-6 - i.e. Detroit drops out of the three-way tie - the second tie-breaker after head-to-head would be conference record. In this scenario, both teams would be 7-5 in the NFC.

Then common games would be considered. Versus Atlanta, Detroit, San Francisco, and Washington, the Vikings would be 4-1, while the Cardinals would be 2-3, so the Vikings would get in ahead of the Cardinals.

So even though the Cardinals would be in the playoffs if the season ended today, because tie-breakers are involved, they are NOT in control of their own destiny.

Just keepin' it real....

I think we can win 3-4 games. This Sundays game will be hard for us to win, but we have beaten them already this year. The other thre are very winable...If we would win out ( big big dream) we would be in the playoffs and maybe one at home.

I hope the Saints make a mistake as bad as that double reverse they tried while trying to run out the clock v. the Bucs.

Don't hold your breath on that one. Even if the Cards win out, we would have to count on Seattle losing to one of Carolina, Baltimore or Atlanta, and the Baltimore game is in Seattle.

Nope, the Hawks will finish at least 11-5.
