IF you truly believe Adrian P. is special then you draft him, otherwise If your taken a chance on a player then you move on to a position of need.
Knowing he would be the 3rd great wr also doesnt hurt

Also I could draft a player like Ted Ginn if I understood the kickoff and punt returns were in dire straits and he was the answer

Ive been watching the Cardinals for 20 years and never seen them draft a lineman worth a crap in the top 10 picks. We seem to do great with hi profile Wrs

If A Peterson is there, I break records getting to the podium.

If we trade back to the middle of the round, that's where I'd have Ginn on my radar.

I think we get AP. Here's my wishlist:
1-Peterson, RB
2.-Brandon Meriweather, S- in my opinion the best ball center fielder at safety
3.-Josh Wison, CB- solid and is a good kick returner
4.- Coery Hilliard, OT- nasty blocker who fits in with Grimm
5.-Mike Otto, OT- depth where it is needed.
7.-David Holloway, LB- effort player who get to the QB.

If we end up with these first 3 guys, we will be on our way to a ring!!!!

The Valley so low.
Buckybird, your day 1 draft keeps the Cards where they have been for the whole time here in AZ--without a decent OL. Nobody here or drafted in your plan would be a starter on a team with a decent OL (maybe there's one, but I'd like to see proof). Corey Hilliard is ranked about 20th on most prospect lists, and isn't even listed on the Big Red Sheet list. "Isn't overly athletic...Lacks quickness and great mobility...Struggles in space...Has trouble with speed off the edge,..His balance is pretty shaky and he will lunge at times...Can be overaggressive...Won't be able to play left tackle at the pro level."--Draft Countdown.

What makes you think that Peterson, with no NFL trials, is a better bet to do well than Edge? When will we learn that a good back with a good-to-great OL wins out over a great back with a mediocre-to-lousy OL? Why can't the Cards, for a change, be the ones with a great OL? Then Shipp would average 5 yards a carry, and JJ could run 8 yards and slide.

Ginn seems to be rated around #15 or so in the value charts I have read. Surely you would not give up a #5 value for a #15? Based on their ratings Ginn would have considerable less chance of making it in the pros than the #5 if you believe in value charts. I tend to believe in these value charts as they are based on highly researched information, watching film, and what coaches think. I would like Ginn on my team but not at #5. If you trade down then you take a big chance he would not be where you expect he will be. I think we could easily end up with Peterson or Thomas depending on what Detroit does.

Are you saying that you are not sure that our kickoff/punt returns are in dire straits? They have been for the past decade.

Our OL of the 60's may have been the best in the NL (Dobler and gang). We drafted Dave Butz out of Purdue and he turned into an all pro when we sent him to Washington. I think the Cards were the first team to ever draft or acquire a 300 lb player when they were in Chicago. He was pretty good.

Some but very few OL are drafted high in the draft for good reason. It is really hard to asses these guys and nearly all need a few years to develop and contribute to a team. My personal thought is a RB is the easiest guy to assess. They also need little training and can make an immediate impact on a team.

I'd say our coverage teams are the main problem. Our return teams have been ok. After all JJ took one to the house just last year.

Also don't forget the Cardinals set the NFL record for most kickoff returns by one player in one season when Martay Jenkins returned 82 in 2000.

:p

That's just pathetic that a Cardinal is in the record books for that one.

JJ's return this year was the first time in over a decade that we have had a return. It was more of a fluke than anything.

Our coverage teams are equally as a bad.

The reason that AP is special is because he can go 80 yards in one carry and
James can't!!! Power and speed the kid can do it all. When is the last time the
Cards have had that, OJ in his 1st few seasons. Game breakers at RB are
harder to find than Olineman. If we don't get this kid, remember how special
he is 5 years down the road. Which one would you like better on your team,
Davis or LT. I really would like to trade up to the 1st selection in round 2 and
take Staley(if he is there), but Meriweather will be a special player in my
opionion.

Peterson will take our offense to a new level, while keeping our defense off
the field. Makes us better in every way. BPA!!!
