That isn't very surprising, if true. Fizdale strikes me as the type of guy who would rather be in New York and the big market. He also had issues with ownership in Memphis so working for Sarver may not have been all that appealing. I don't think James Dolan is better, but at least there you're in New York. Failing with the Knicks is almost expected also, so I don't see there being a lot of pressure on him. We'll see what happens but I'm happy with Igor right now. I prefer him to Fizdale based on all I've read about Igor over the last day and a half.

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if just the possibility of acquiring Lebron had something to do with his decision, and New York's.

I agree with all the above.

Fizdale better not bench Porzingis. ;)

Suns.com posted an article about what people are saying about the Igor hiring, it has tweets from about a dozen players, analysts, and front office exec's around the league. Even the Jazz official twitter sent out a congratulations for him. It's nice to see everything in one place, easy to view. Nothing too surprising as most have been posted here, the Polish Hammer sent congratulations to Igor though, if anyone cares what he thinks. Rubio also gives high praise to him.

Some good stuff!

I particularly liked the tweet from Ricky Rubio.

I knew Sarver wasn't a fun person to work with but man...I never knew this many candidates would turn him down. This is now like 3-5 candidates that's been reported who turned down the Suns, there may be even many more that was never reported.

A shame what Sarver has turned this franchise into.

Which 3-5? Stop making stuff up to fit the narrative that Sarver is the devil.

Sarver is the worst owner in the league and a bottom 5 owner in all of North American Sports. He has killed basketball for me over the past 10 years and deserves to rot in hell for what he has done to this once proud franchise. And by association...... Jerry C lost a ton of credibility with me just by selling to this piece of crap.

Now on to Koskoskov: He knows what he is getting in to with the Suns..... And He wanted the job, we couldn't recruit better talent and now we are guaranteed Doncic if he is there. Whether Ayton is on the board or not. Doncic will be our pick. Nothing like telegraphing our moves so that the entire league can see.

But Doncic is a good facilitator, regardless of what position he plays. He may not be a PG in the NBA...

I don't want to see Booker at PG either...

Which is why I don't think Doncic can help the Suns. We need a consistent post presence/defender/rebounder first and foremost. Then we need a skilled Point Guard.

This talk about positionless basketball on the Suns won't take us to the next step. 'Jack of all trades, master of none' has not helped us in the past.

And all the references I read here lately about "not as bad as" or "maybe he can change" also don't give hope for the future.

Step one in overcoming that is management giving us something to be hopeful about. And, if not, the massive inferiority complex about the Suns will continue.

I don't think you know what "tanking" is. The Suns have been bad for a while now but they've only tanked in two of those seasons, last year and this most recent season.
That is what I said -- over and over (these last two seasons). Following losing basketball for the preceding six.

If we tanked over (and over) these past two seasons in order draft a Wing (albeit with good passing skills), that would be extremely ignorant. Especially knowing that our three priorities are at:

1) Center
2) Point Guard
3) Power Forward

WHICH 3-5? Better yet, which 3-5 in the last 2 weeks?

Are you suggesting in his tenure he hasn’t majorly impacted the coaches who would consider coming here!?!? Let alone free agents!?

I don't think that's exactly what he said but I could see it being interpreted like this. IIRC, he said he liked Triano and was hoping he'd get the job but Koko is a good hire too. Something like that.
That’s quite a bit different

I see no reason why Len wouldn't be receptive to being coached by Kokoskov.

This is what Len actually said. See below:

“I personally hoped they would hire Triano,” center Alex Len said in a text to azcentral sports. “I loved playing for Jay and I think he would have more success if he had a little bit better roster. But about Igor, all I heard is only great things about him as a person and coach. I think he will be a great fit and hopefully will be able to turn around this franchise.”

Yeah that’s much different than he prefers triano.

I don't think Doncic would be a disaster at pg...just not ideal...or better yet he's not traditional. Besides, he seems to surpass expectations so I'm not overly worried about drafting him. No one is saying he doesn't know how to play the game...they're saying the opposite.

If he’s the best player in the draft it’s not ignorant it’s the right thing to do.

You keep clamoring for a defensive center. I love Ayton and want him #1. But he’s not a defensive center.

Yeah but everything isn't based on the draft. They could go different routes. They could take Doncic which would make Warren more expendable and still target a pg via trade or draft. We still have the 16th pick.

Bagley isn't a defensive stopper either...

That is sort of the problem with the draft. The coveted bigs don't play stellar defense. JJJ and Bamba seem like the sole standouts for defense.

Bamba is a little slow to react for the "standout" label.

And even there I’ve seen people take shots at bamba’s effort and jjj’s lack of PT worries me.
