1) DE Jamaal Anderson, Arkansas
2) DB Brandon Meriweather, Miami (FL)
3) OL Doug Datish, Ohio State
4) LB Tony Taylor, Georgia
5) WR Yamon Figurs, Kansas St.
6) QB Chris Leak, Florida

Bah. Anderson and Meriweather are no-brainers. Datish is a balanced and versatile lineman, who hails from O-Line U. Taylor is really good in coverage and would be nice to have. Figurs is Ginn-lite. Leak would be a nice backup QB.

I did this really quick.

No OT?! Seems as if you're missing our biggest weakness. Otherwise good stuff. Mine would look like:

(If Joe Thomas is there at five)
1. Joe Thomas
2. Brandon Merriweather
3. Stewart Bradley
4. Ryne Robinson
5. Dan Mozes
6. Le'Ron McClain

(If Joe Thomas doesn't fall)
1. Jamaal Anderson
2. Joe Staley
3. John Wendling
4. Ryne Robinson
5. Dan Mozes
6. Le'Ron McClain

Nice draft, if it shook out that way.

I do think Meriweather will go in the 1st round and Leak will be a first day pick though.

Staley got burned all day in the Senior Bowl and at times completely forgot to block anyone. He is not worth a second round pick

One game shouldn't have that much effect on a player's draft status. Also, Staley wasn't even assigned to block that guy coming off the edge, it was just a bizarre blocking scheme. What he does have is tremendous athleticism and crazy good feet. He isn't a day one starter like Levi Brown or Joe Thomas, but he has the most upside at LT besides those guys. He'd be a steal at #37.

the senior bowl practice sessions are equally or more important than the actual game...wouldn't surprise me if coaches are gone before kickoff....

Staley clearly showed his good footwork and athleticism, but he's not strong enough to handle the big boys yet and there are no worthwhile tackle prospects worth taking first day with who's on the board at the time. Ugoh had an off week and Doug Free has been EXPOOOSED. I really don't even want to touch him with a 10-foot pole now. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to get a tackle, but no one was worth it at this point in the evaluation period.

I've had no qualms with Meriweather as a 1st round talent, HOWEVA! he does have those character issues that many worry about. His ability at both corner and can take away from those blemishes, but they're still there in the end and will make a dent in his draft stock. I also toyed with Quentin Moses in the second, but the more I see him the more he polarizes me.

I really don't know about the sixth round pick and could really care less right now. LOL.

If that was BPA then so be it. I dont wanna take an OT just because we need one. If other guys grade out much higher you have to take them IMO.

No doubt, so do 32 NFL scouts.

Which suggests that (assuming his off the field issues have been resolved) he'll be off the board by the middle of round one.

I'll go one better - It could all change, but from what I've seen him do so far on the playing field and practice field, he's my #1 pick as of now.

I like the overall mock but i would put Antonio Pittman in there for the 3rd round. I'm telling everone right now, this guy is going to be a player. he's one reason i would hesitate to pick Peterson in round 1. I think Pittman could easily be as good a pro and can be had in round 3.

Where does Jordan Palmer (QB, UTEP and lil bro of Carson) rate? We need a good backup who can relegate Warner to 3rd string and assistant QB coach....

I am with you.

The guy was tearing it up out there at DE so why not keep him there.

I say trade down and try to still get L.Brown OT, Penn State.

If Thomas is gone at 5, I would go after Jamal Anderson and get a great pass rusher than a second tier OT. I would rather try and sign Max Starks than take a chance on the crapshoot of OT's after Thomas.

joeshmo has discussed the pitfall of this plan many times. Starks is a RFA and will certainly garner a middle tender if not high, which means we will have to at least give up a first rounder if not a third as well to sign him. That on top of the money that it takes to sign him. He wasn't a world beater this year and I don't think is worth it.

That's not to say that I don't disagree with you about taking the DE or whoever is the BPA, as long as they aren't a QB. I don't think that the quality of tackles in the second round will be that much worse than Levi Brown. We should look for a QB in the later rounds though.

At 6-3 and 278? I dunno about LB.

He is big for a LB for sure. He did look quick and speedy in the Sr Bowl but that was against college players so that has to be taken into account. I wonder how effective he is playing the rush or would he be better at perhaps a situational pass rusher?

That Okoye dude looked dang good at DE. Is he a RDE or a LDE? What round is he projected to go at this point?

Okoye has been a DT throughout his career. He's a first rounder and probably worked himself into lotto status with his Senior Bowl.

Yeah he is a DT my mistake. I would love for the Cards to pick up a RB in any round other than the 1st sans Adrian Peterson. What RB's do you like in 2nd-7th?

Selvin Young, Kenneth Darby, or Brian Leonard in the later rounds. All three aren't getting much attention and could be solid NFL backs.

Selvin Young is not that good. A good kid who plays hard but he doesn't have that special talent needed for the NFL.

 I wish we could find a hidden gem at RB in the latter rounds. That doesn't happen very often though it seems. Maybe we are overdue.:)
