I'm going to go ahead and say what everyone is fearing. Floyd is a mega-bust.

I'm interested. Of all the other players taken after him, who would you have rather had?

Alshon Jeffery, a higher rated WR comes to mind...

:grabs:

Most people wanted offensive line help or a pass rusher. It was shocking that we drafted a WR - especially Floyd.

The fumble was costly. Otherwise, he caught most everything thrown his direction.

+1. Stanton cost us the game along with the secondary getting shredded. Floyd has the tools but when you have a QB with accuracy issues (Stanton) its hard to be productive, the fumble was huge but mistakes were made everywhere today.

Just off the top of my head: Melvin Imgram, Bruce Irvin, Rieff, Decastro and Jenkins.

Ingram is so so and Jenkins is Early Doucet with less TD's. Floyd is twice the receiver Jenkins is. But the others are fair. Remember, this was Whiz drafting here. There was no need for a WR at that point but a glaring need for an edge rusher like Irvin. Also, Doug Martin would have been nice as well.

My issue is that it doesn't seem that Floyd does any nuanced part of playing football exceptionally well. He doesn't have great hands. Doesn't run great routes. He gets dumb penalties. He doesn't draw a ton of penalties. It is never a shock when plays like that fumble happen to him.

He is an NFL player because of physical traits alone IMO. He doesn't bring anything more than that to the table IMO.

I was thinking Jenkins the DB... I forgot about Jeffrey, hell even Rueben Randal.

Furthermore, I will go as far as to say that I would rather cut Floyd next year if it would make it easier to keep Fitz by having the extra 3 mil. The WR position is a flooded market, I feel Jaron Brown brings the same game that Floyd does as a WR, and Fitzgerald and John Brown are already the two best WRs on this team. If the team cuts Fitzgerald, I have zero confidence Floyd steps up. I don't see him getting a second contract with the Cardinals at this point.

I wouldn't be crushed if this happens.

for all that people talk about WR being a dependent position... we're seeing WRs all over the league making impacts with pretty bad QBs. Rookies, with terrible QBs making more of an impact then Floyd.

Floyd can be a good WR. I think he's been playing dinged all year and isn't in the best shape. He seems heavier and slower, something I've thought with a few players this year, and needs to get back to the deep speed he showed last year.

Agreed, even when I watched his highlight reel from college he never got good separation, he used his physical stature to ward off DBs and make catches which I for one thought this will not cut it in the NFL. HE will never be a #1 go to WR. Second fiddle at best.

Not gonna go back and rehash the draft, other than to say that thought taking Floyd in the first round was a reach then, and I believe the same today. I don't believe we needed to take a WR in the first round. Let alone Floyd...

Been saying that too, since he got here he seems to be more into being big and blocking and boxing out than in improving his body so he is quicker and faster and gets open more.

This year has been weird for him, he had only 1 fumble his first 2 years, he's got 3 this year, add in the key drops in several games just hasn't been a good year for him. I don't think he's healthy either.

I'd venture, that we'll find out a end of year that he's been playing injured.

I agree, but this should force him to become a more technical WR while it instead has seemed to keep him from being an effective WR at all.
