Michael Floyd's ceiling is completely off the charts. I've watched practically every college game this kid has played in. He brings the ENTIRE package. He snatches the ball out of the air in a manner that is effortless & flawless. His pass catching ability resembles PP catching punts. I cannot remember a WR coming out of college with this kids attributes. Some may argue, but he is better coming out of college than even Fitz was. Granted, Fitz was bound & determined to out work everyone & he has. With Fitz's guidance, this kid will make EVERY team that passed on him lose their mind. The Cardinals were NOT going to let this kid go to a divisional rival. That would have been suicidal for us. The OLineman we passed on all had some flaws, however small they may have been. Reiff will be an average lineman & DeCastro isn't mean enough or physical enough to be great. Michael Floyd WILL BE GREAT! Take that to the bank. I'll say right now that this will be one of our greatest draft picks ever. PP was a GREAT choice last year & we've now followed up with the coup of the draft. Kudos to the Cardinals!!!

Thanks for posting that. I have been lukewarm about this pick and reading this helps me to realize that we may have made a real good move here.

Some are never happy when even a gift basket is dropped right on your doorway. Questions always come up.

MF was right there with JB in ratings. C'mon we did good everyone!

I'm also ecstatic he's not lining up against us with Bradford throwing to him!

Good luck to defenses trying to roll coverage to Fitz anymore. One look at the NFCW boards around the time we picked tells you how good a pick this is.

Your buddy is absolutely, 100% accurate in that statement. Notre Dame is one of those programs that are either adored or hated. Most of the sports media line up in the latter category. I'm telling you right now....HAD FLOYD GONE TO USC, HE WOULD HAVE BEEN THE 3RD PICK IN THIS DRAFT!!!!!!! This kid is an absolute stud.

Might well be true, at USC they cover it up when athletes get in trouble.

Your statement is true, but he would have garnered far more attention from the media come draft time had he attended a school other than Notre Dame. I honestly believe, with all my heart, that we drafted the most talented football player in this draft.

If you watch the tape there is no denying he has lots of talent. I am thrilled. He is a complete player on the field. I don't see a weakness.

Great hands, physical, run blocker, big target, yards after the catch. Solid speed for his size.

I don't really think media attention translates to being drafted high. I think NFL people find you if you can play.

I guess, but sometimes it takes them a while to find you, so it doesn't hurt to have media attention. See:

Kurt Warner
Warren Moon
Adam Vinatieri
Wes Welker
James Harrison
Antonio Gates

Actually, his straight line speed is a bit ridiculous for a guy that size. 4.47 at the combine where the average was was 4.56.

Agreed.
Also, it's extremely odd to hear a Notre Damer complain about the lack of media attention for one of their players. Really?? Notre Dame gets incredible attention irreguardless of the product they put on the field (which in the modern era has not been very good).

That said, I do think he's super talented and I'm excited to see what he can bring to the table. He could really open things up for us.

Thats what I meant, he looks plenty fast for his size on tape.

2 QB's from a long time ago. A kicker, a guy who got cut a few times before he found a system that fit him. A guy who played college basketball. And Welker who I don't know much about.

Don't see that any of them are really comparable to Floyd who was a highly touted HS player that went to a school that has every game on national tv.

Basically there were 2 questions on Floyd, speed, which he answered at the combine, and the alcohol stuff.

Notre Dame gets great TV EXPOSURE, and that's because of the great number of ND fans in this country. But ND is a polarizing program. Don't kid yourself, the media relishes the opportunity to bash them whenever they can. Some of it is deserved, more isn't. It's safe to say that some people, even people on this board, cannot appreciate the greatness of this pick because they despise ND. That's their choice. When the Fall rolls around, everyone will see what we truly have.

Yep it's not the reports that several teams weren't impressed with his interviews and were still concerned about his off field issues. We just hate Notre Dame.

I don't think media attention matters but I will say that your teams' record influences where you get drafted. I've watched too many good players from teams that had a bad year get overlooked in the draft.

We know you are obsessed with Floyd's prior history with alcohol but that doesn't mean the guy can't be as good as PACardsfan says. Many people here didn't believe me when I said Acho was the real deal for instance.

I'll always put more emphasis on the opinion of a fan who actually watched the guy play.

Correct. and I'm not talking about his on field performance, I think he's a very good WR. I know for example Stanford raved about the kid when they played him.

My entire concern with the kid is off the field. And I wasn't even that concerned until googled him last night and saw .19 BAC for his DUI. When I found out a judge had required him to have the breathalyzer deal in his car that just renewed my concern.

My comment was that playing at ND is not going to keep NFL scouts from seeing you, they played Stanford, USC etc during his time there so scouts saw Michael Floyd play. he wasn't rated higher because of his off field problems.
