Even if we somehow found a way to win against the Panthers, does anyone truly believe the Denver defense would not have completely destroyed our o-line and Palmer before the first quarter was over?

An NFC championship will be a lot easier to get over than a SB mauling.
That's the only consolation I can find for myself at the moment, misguided as it may be.

this blowout was epic and will not be easy to get over. Maybe I'm just extremely bitter but no way does this team get back here again next year. This was that bad a beating.

Not much bright side to this game. This is not the cardinals product that was dominating during the season. First time this year we lost in prime time and came at the worst time. DJ is gonna be a stud and getting Badger back will help. Still looking forward to next year and what Kiem will come up with. Tough way to go out

Bright side for me is not spending 4K to go to the Super Bowl while unemployed and with a bad back.

Ditto except the unemployed part. I just don't see a bright side to this game unless you count starting the look for our next franchise QB immediately as a part of moving on.

+1

Nothing was bright about this game. Totally got dominated and shot ourselves in the foot.

Things will hopefully look better by the end of the week and we can all move on to the draft.

Their defense may have but their offense is so anemic that we would have found a way to win...or at least we wouldn't have lost by 34 points.

Mathieu probably won't be back to probowl level until the 2017 season

Not to mention he won't be able to prevent our current QB from making bad decisions come playoff time next year either.

The bright side for me is in hope... Hope that a colossal pounding like this will open the eyes of BASK and perhaps, they truly see the weaknesses that plague this team... Specifically:

1.) Our o-line is simply not good enough. There isn't one starter on the line who should feel safe. Each of them collapsed down the stretch, starting with the Seahawk debacle, to the GB game where they mauled us on the line of scrimmage, to today where it wasn't even fair.... Veldheer fell apart after a terrific start to the season. Iupati is a highly paid FA who also crashed down to earth in the last 3-4 games of the year. And we have 2 first round picks who can't find the field, one of whom can't even find a way to suit up on game day!

2.) Our d-line is atrocious. In the NFL, if you can't generate even the smallest of a pass rush with your starting front d-line, you will have serious problems and will be forced to compensate in risky and odd ways...

3.) Our linebackers simply suck - period. I hope BASK are not tricked into believing we have "something" in Minter and Bucannon. Because we don't. We have 2 guys who try hard to make up for the ineptitude of our d-line. But are simply not good enough... Minter should never, ever be in on passing downs. And Bucannon, while a solid tackler, should probably be playing outside or back at safety...

4.) Special Teams... Holy Crap. Can it really be any worse? Butler is brutal. And for some reason, love giving up huge returns... while we never, ever break off more than a minimal return ourselves!

5.) Running Back... DJ is flat-out awesome and a true STUD! But, what else do we gave? The poor kid is going to get run into the ground before he turns 25! Ellington is toast. Hard to believe he'll be with this team next season. And CJ is now a journeyman coming off a broken leg.

We may be able to make the playoffs with Palmer, but he's a train wreck once the playoffs start. He's a loser come crunch time. What an embarrassment. I almost wish the Packers went for 2 last week & beat us. I'm bitter right now & deserve to be bitter.

This is a pretty good summary. Upgrade the right side of the offensive line, upgrade the front 7 on defense, and rip up the special teams from top down.

The bright side is that we made it to the NFC Championship. Saving a bunch of money on not buying SB tickets can be a plus as well. I don't care what the final score was because it wouldn't be any easier if we lost on a missed extra point like NE would it? If you lose by 1, 7, 20 or 34 you lost. I don't give a **** about the final score.

I think a big part of the ST issue has been Bethel playing so much CB he's tired and not playing as hard on ST.

I thought he got held on the return by Ginn but even on that he made a poor effort and gave up the lane to Ginn. If you watch him on FG's and XP's neither him or PP even try to block them now, they just stand there because they're tired from playing defense.

Get a better punter, get another starting CB so that Bethel is a ST player and maybe moves to safety.

The DL I think looks bad in part because of the LB's and part because we have no pass rushers they're all interior guys.

I have to say I don't get why keim has such a good rep on this board, he's good with the cap and FA's but his drafts have not been good at all. Watching Niklas, Cooper and Humphries stand on the sideline when we need help is pretty frustrating. If he hit on a few more high picks we'd be much better.

The team does still have a solid core.
The biggest issue with this team is the same issue they have had for several years: No Pass Rush.
Which is why I was so pissed we picked DJ Humphries in the 1st round. They need to upgrade the pass rush and get a true #2 CB.

If you want to look on the bright side, then do it. This is one of the best Cardinals teams any of us have ever known. The Jim Hart Cards went 10-11-10 wins; the Palmer Cards have gone 10-11-13 wins. Yet the board is full of doom and gloom. I live far away so I checked in during the first half to be with my fellow fans and immediately wished I hadn't. Almost a third of the league has never won a Super Bowl. Half the league has never won more than one. And when the Cards win a game there's always a thread making fun of the other teams' fans complaining. And of course, a lot of the people who are complaining the loudest now are the same ones who crow the loudest when the Cards win. Until next year, I guess...

Booze and losses dont mix. This is why I stay away from sports bars. Some knucklehead always says something stupid.
