Wow! When we drafted Leinart everyone was juiced about it. Our next QBOF. He will lead us to the promise land. Now Leinart is a so-so QB. The team will go into a tailspin with Leinart at QB. I don't get it.

I was one of the few tht didn't like the pick of Leinart. Now I think I was wrong.

From my view I thought Leinart looked almost as good as Warner in pre-season. He now has another year of learning under his belt. I suspect he will look as good as Warner if not better this upcoming pre-season.

Warner had a brilliant season this year, I just don't think he does it again next year. I would love to see him retire. I think it would be best for the team. With all the changes that are happening let's make every change now and move forward. Not have constant change for the next few years.

I think we need Warner and Leinart this season. Try and re-sign Warner for a deal with guaranteed money that won't break us, and let him have the starting job until he loses it. He took us to the Super Bowl. Please don't cast me in with the Warnerite camp, but I think we're sounding a bit like a fantasy football manager right now.

I don't think this is a Kitna/Palmer situation, where you know it's better to get the backup into the starting role as soon as he's ready. Hopefully it really is more like a Favre/Rodgers situation, and we'll have a solid QB stepping in when the time comes.

Why do I get the feeling many posters on here would rather go 8-8 (at best) with Leinart rather than 11-5 with Kurt Warner??? :doi:

Better question:

Why Do I get the feeling you would rather go 11-5 with Kurt then 11-5 with Matt?

Answer: Because you are a fan of the individual and want to see him pad stats and reap individual glory.

We are fans of the team and want to become a perennial contender.

Pretending about what?

No, I mean the Arizona Cardinals. Having a star QB such as Kurt Warner is quite a bit different than having maybe a so-so QB like Matt Leinart. In fact it could be the difference I indicated.

You aren't a Cards fan. If he signs with the jacksonville Jags you would ditch the Cards in a second. You aren't fooling anyone.

Eh, it is the way it goes around here sometimes. It is not even what have you done for me lately. It is what have you done for me lately, and you suck, and you are a scumbag.

Leinart is still a great QBOF. I would love to see Warner come back and play as long as he wants.

But Leinart is still the QBOF, and should stay that way. To give Leinart away is begging to go back to the days of Dave Brown and Jeff Blake.

IAWarner, I have no personal axe to grind with you, but I tend to agree with these kind of statements. The fact that you had no clue about Simeon Rice and his comments about Tillman showed me you weren't much of a fan prior to KW being here.

As far as I'm concerned, your input here has just as much validity as mine or anyone elses, but pretending to be a long time fine doesn't hold water with me either.

I do however, respect your opinions and hope you stay on with the Cards, KW status notwithstanding

Fans are fickle. Leinart's ability and promise has not changed, though. Leinart IS the QBoF for the Cardinals. Is he a slam dunk super-star? No. He never was; nobody is.

More of this BS? Every couple weeks I have to take posts questioning loyalty. :(

They were garbage comments, but I mostly blew it off since he was no longer with the team. It showed what kind of person he was and I was just happy he was gone. Since I just blew it off, I probably forgot it fairly quick since he wasn't on the team anyways.

I'm usually neutral on both KW and ML, but on this issue, I have to agree with the Warnerites...

After leading the team to the greatest season in Cardinal history, I feel incredulous that all of you want KW to retire?! Just boggles my mind what some of you are thinking... After an infinity of waiting for a capable QB nevermind a probowl/MVP calibre, now you want him to retire? It's ok for me if he decides to retire on his own. BUT FROM OUR VERY OWN CARDINALS FANS TO EGG HIM ON??? This is too much... For giving us this magical ride, he deserves all our support, not a farewell shove.

I will get right on that as soon as you can guarantee me that KW will lead us to 11-5 next year.

Considering his bromance with Haley is gone, Boldin is likley gone, Edge is gone (dont discount his effect - its not a coincidence when Edge was playing Kurt was at his best) theres more of a chance of having to play critical games in bad weather next year, that every NFL analyst is stunned he went the entire 16 games this year and history would indicate thats no sure bet and that most importantly WE WENT 9-7 THIS YEAR IN ONE OF THE WORST DIVISIONS OF ALL TIME I am thinking thats no slam dunk either.

All things being equal and considering the amount of turn over is inevitable MAYBE (I'm still undecided - it would be an easier decision if little was going to change) its time to start the future and maybe take a slight step back and become that perennial contender rather then hoping things break right for us again and we get back to the Super Bowl with so much going to be different around Kurt.

If your loyalty lies where you says it does I think the above post is a pretty fair assessment.

I'm oddly at peace with whomever QBs this team next year.

I think it'll be Warner, but I think he'll likely miss some time, too. Hopefully when he is on the field he'll be able to take care of the ball again (he exceeded my wildest expectations in that category this past season).

Also, for the sake of whoever is under center, I hope the OL continues to improve and the running game is more dangerous.

As for Edge taking the pressure off, that is always the case. Even when we had little to no running game he still did ok (except @New England).

If your loyalty lies where you says it does I think the above post is a pretty fair assessment.

It's fair, but I'd still rather have a proven veteran QB (Kurt Warner) over what Matt Leinart has shown. Why take a possible step back when you don't have to. Things have got to improve from the 9-7 season last year, that is for sure. I just don't think we need to change QBs right now unless Kurt Warner decides he is done. He led us to the Super Bowl last year and if he wants to come back I don't think there should be any problem with that.

I agree with that. Kurt led us to the FREAKING SUPERBOWL so he deserves the right to do what he wants. And I am okay with that.

But this thread context is "in a perfect world" and if one more "chance" with Kurt is going to cost us the potential I see in Matt Leinart I am against it.

Like Pariah said I am at peace. I will go ballistic though if Matt demands a trade and they meet that request.

Thats the kind of lack of foresight that leads to SOC. Smart teams don't throw away cards until they know what's coming on the flop.

LOL hahahahahaa. Good one. You forgot about when Rice called Tillman GI Joe because they were garbage comments? OK............More like you didn't even know who that an NFL team played in AZ until Warner was named starter this season. Don't be like Bonds. Be like Petitte. You will get more respect.

Yeah and 10,000+ posts full of your oh-so witty replies makes you a great poster, huh? As they say quality matters over quantity...

I say lets commit the 8 to 10 million dollars on the player that got us not only to the playoffs in 10 years, but got us to the SUPER BOWL!

We already paid that player 40 million last year.

And for those who want to make Warner a Saint remember he was a Cardinals QB in '05,'06 & '07 and couldn't even get us a winning season. Many of the other starters were playing then as well. Under Denny Green they couldn't even beat the worst teams in the league.

The guys that are really responsible for getting Arizona to the Super Bowl and THREE playoff wins don't even suit up. Ken Whisenhunt and his band of 60,000 screaming Cardinal fans.

Well living here, it'd be hard to know that there was actually a team in AZ. You'd be able to easily tell that there was a team in Minnesota, in Chicago, be able to tell that all the teams out east existed, and even teams like the 49ers, Raiders, and a southern team like the Cowboys existed, but not the Arizona Cardinals. :(
The only thing that pertained to the AZ Cardinals were the playoff clippings from the newspapers. I was hoping for NFC championship merchandise, but our malls never got any. It's a good thing I lived there as a child.

Where does it say we paid $40 million for one year?

People say they paid $200,000 for their house even though they have a 30 year mortgage.
The line I quoted you on! :p

I think Kurt Warner is about to retire, but I hope I'm wrong. :(
