Look at this list:
Tight end Freddie Jones sat out practice with a groin injury, along with fullback James Hodgins (shoulder), receiver Larry Fitzgerald (ankle), and safety Dexter Jackson (back). Receiver Bryant Johnson remains on the PUP list with a foot injury. Defensive tackle Kenny King (wrist), receiver Anquan Boldin (knee) and running back Marcel Shipp (ankle) were also absent from practice. Tackle L.J. Shelton did not finish practice and had an ice wrap on his back. Cornerback Renaldo Hill (hamstring) was limited.

Emmitt Smith, who suffered a bruised thigh injury against Minnesota, has practiced all week.

I mean you cannot honestly tell me there is not a way to better prepare your players to play football. I mean this is plain un-acceptable. Get new trainers, get a new complex to work out in, get a new offseason schedule to get your players in shape.

Year after year we sit threw injury after injury, nothing is changed, nothing is done about it. I cannot be bad luck, or coincedence that our team stock piles the IR every frickin year. The organization must do something to FORCE the players to be in better shape, and be better prepared to play football. Cause whatever they are doing now, ain't workin'.

EA sports says "If it is in the game, then it is in the game (video game)" And in Madden I know you can change your training companies, and such.

Peace

PS - I can I go try out for the Cardinals, get hurt, and get paid millions to sit on my butt, or ride a bike?

Case in point from Philly....

Defensive coordinator Jim Johnson has mastered the art of juggling. He did plenty of it last season when injuries decimated the defensive line and secondary. And he must do it again now -- albeit in the preseason.

With N.D. Kalu awaiting season-ending knee surgery, Derrick Burgess lined up as the starting right defensive end Wednesday. That's the plan now and in the immediate future.

Burgess, who has struggled to stay healthy the last two seasons, is one option. The other options are, most notably, 2003 first-round pick Jerome McDougle and 2003 fourth-round selection, Jamaal Green, both of whom have had injury problems themselves.

DE Derrick Burgess Burgess is a pass-rushing force when healthy. He recorded six sacks in limited playing time during his rookie season. However, most of that success came from the left side. For that reason, Johnson may, at times, flip-flop Burgess and left end, Jevon Kearse.

As for McDougle and Green, Johnson said this is their time. Both are expected to see extended action Friday night against the Ravens. Johnson said they'd play both end spots.

Due to shoulder surgery, McDougle missed all of the 2004 training camp. In 2003, his rookie season was slowed by hip, knee and ankle injuries.

"I did think at times in certain games he was close to being what we thought he was," Johnson said of McDougle's performance in 2003. "In mini-camp he looked a lot quicker; he looked a lot more aggressive. I think the last couple days out here he's looked like the player we think he is.

"He has to prove it, and we have to give him a chance to prove it."

Green, meanwhile, missed all of last season with injury, came back and had a great camp and then went down with an ankle injury last week at New England.

"I think Jevon (Kearse) and (Derrick) Burgess are going to be playing a lot more," Johnson said. "They're our starters and they should play. We'll still see how (Jerome) McDougle, (Jamaal) Green and (Ron) Johnson fit in the mold and see how much they can contribute. We're going to have to have some guys step up."

At linebacker, Johnson said Ike Reese will replace Dhani Jones at the SAM linebacker position, while Keith Adams may step in as the starting WIL linebacker if Wayne can't go.

While the Eagles have time to sort out their defensive end situation and time to get their other injured defensive players -- Brian Dawkins, Corey Simon, Sam Rayburn, Jones and Wayne -- back on the field, one concern is developing that cohesion, that chemistry among the unit.

"I think we're concerned about the depth," Johnson said. "I just hope we don't get any more banged up right now, but that's part of the game. We know we're going to have a few bumps and bruises. You can't worry about it too much.

"We just hope that by the time we open against the Giants that we have all those guys back. That's what we're planning on."

WOE IS NOT THEM

It may sound far-fetched, but Johnson says it's important to guard against the mental "here we go again" syndrome in regards to the injuries.

"I think that they know that this is still a good football team," Johnson said. "One player or two is not going to make a difference in this team. We're going to miss them, but we're still going to be a good football team. "We're going to miss N.D. (Kalu) tremendously because of the kind of person and football player he is; but guys are going to pick it up. I think, for the most part, guys will pick it up and know we're still a good football team. And that's the mental aspect; they've got to think that way. And I think they do. I don't think they're blowing smoke. I think they think that way, too."

Maybe it was the extra contact in the OTA's .....

just kidding. Injuries are a part of the NFL, maybe the heat has something to do with it but I think it's overly simplistic to blame trainers etc.

Remember, excrement happens, we just have to deal with it unfortunately.

Well, the Cardinals have the coolest training camp spot in the entire NFL, so you can't blame the heat. This year, they have even one more week of workouts in cooler weather because they will be in Prescott next week. Before, they always came to Tempe after that second preseason game.

Maybe Flag is so cool at night, their muscles and bones are brittle?

How do propose that you prepare players to avoid, say, a fractured foot, sprained ankle, or a deep thigh bruise? What could be done, by the training staff, that would prevent a torn meniscus?

That is a good point. I don't know much about sports training, but I know you can train to avoid muscle injuries like a pulled hammy and such thru stretching.

But how do you avoid an ankle from someone rolling on your foot or a knee that gives out? Or a broken wrist? - you can't train for that.

The Cards have not really had the ticky-tack muscle injuries - these are breaks and tears.

LJ, shut-up put some bengay on it and practice. You better be practicing tommorrow.

Just the frustration coming out nothing personal against you LJ.

But I do like the pillow factory idea. That would be a great way to get more families and there kids to come and watch. Does Prescott have one?

If they let the cheerleaders have a pillow fight after practice fan attendance would skyrocket. I think it would be good for team morale too.

You got my interest. What would they be wearing. And would it be an all out battle royal or a choreographed dance number. Lets start a petition.

Thats why there are 53 man rosters.

I think Green will let up on who he thinks are the starters after game 3 of the exhibition season.
This will give them time to recover for the start of the season.
Look, players get hurt all the time. If we run a soft camp and players get hurt early on in the season , we will be screaming that they weren't physically ready. There will be more injuries and hopefully we can find some depth over these last 3 practice games.

I don't know. I also forget how they are "old". Not teenagers, and kids whose bones and bodies are like rubber.

It is just frustrating.

I am trying to come up with something but can't. Stupid football hurting all our players!

Fine! yOU WIN!

it is bad luck. The Cards just got some bad luck.

Peace
