While the Golden State Warriors have a clean injury report heading into Tuesday's contest with a Western Conference rival, a star for the Phoenix Suns is set to be sidelined. For the fourth straight game, the Suns will be without All-Star forward Kevin Durant due to a left ankle sprain. Durant has now been ruled out for Tuesday's reunion with his former team.
Without Durant, the Suns have dropped all three games, along with six straight losses. As the Warriors have surged up the standings in the Western Conference since the All-Star break, the Suns have flopped, posting a disappointing a 35-43 record.
Despite the Suns' recent struggles, they're currently battling for the final spot in the Western Conference postseason play-in tournament. Heading into Tuesday, the Suns hold the No. 11 seed in the West, trailing the Dallas Mavericks by 2.5 games with four games remaining on the schedule.
Tuesday's contest between Golden State and Phoenix will have an impact on the Western Conference standings. The Warriors currently hold the No. 6 seed in the West but are battling a flurry of teams up and down the standings for positioning as the final stretch of the regular season winds down.
Without Durant, the Suns will lean on Royce O'Neal, Ryan Dunn and Bradley Beal alongside Devin Booker. Draymond Green and the Warriors' defense will be in charge of slowing down Booker, who is coming off a 40-point performance against the New York Knicks on Sunday. Without Durant, Booker has scored 37, 39 and 40 points in his last three games for the Suns.
