I think this is a mistake, should try to lock him up now. I know team can F Tag him, but...

After getting burned by DWaste, I'm not surprised at all. Gives the team a year to get to know him. Then they can either F-Tag him, or work out a long term deal for a player just entering his prime.

We don't really know what warts Chandler has. Didn't his brother get busted for cocaine while still in the MMA? I'm not saying it makes them a bad family; but, coupled with the weird synthetic issue for Chandler a couple of months ago, and, I kind of expect us to travel a bit slowly here.

Go Cards!!!

I said yesterday I thought the Cards were going to sit on tearing up the last year of deals until after the season. I think it's pretty obvious they are going all in on this upcoming season for a championship, and will worry about 2017 and beyond when it's over.

hes going to command huge dollars whether you sign him now or next year so there is no reason to feel urgent.

Totally agree, its see what he dow for us.We always have the franchise tag if needed.

The only downside to it is that it is going to cost 'eve more' huge dollars if the salary cap going up 10-15mil per season.

Surprised to hear all the talk about tagging him - he hasn't even played a down yet.

We might as well have one year that we don't pay him 15 or 20 mil a year. Love that we have him plus he has a lot of incentive to play well this year with a new upcoming contract on the line.

Yea deal with his contract next year, we may have to part ways with Campbell next year to keep the young core together. (Jones, badger, floyd)

Makes sense based of the numbers Chopper shared with us earlier. Lots of moving pieces to this puzzle, the FO will be working a lot of OT to get the numbers right that's for sure

thats where I am. What if he has another 6 sack year? Let's see how he does in our system first. Hes going to get massive $ regardless of if we sign him now or later. In fact, he may take less to want to stay after being here rather than fighting for every dollar.

IMO, if you are willing to trade a recent 1st rd pick (albeit a bust, IMO) plus a current 2nd pick, that means you believe the person is to be a fixture on your team. If he has 15 sacks next season, he will command TOP dollar. I'd rather see team lock him up now.

Based on the value of the recent pass rush deals wouldn't a new deal now increase the cap ramifications for this year? His deal is a value this year.

Per Cards site.

General Manager Steve Keim thinks a long-term solution can be found. He was even willing to find it Wednesday as he sat next to Jones as Jones was introduced as a Cardinal for the first time following Tuesday’s trade with the New England Patriots.
“If he’s not worried about it, we can do it right now,” Keim said, drawing laughs from all in attendance, including Jones.
