The guy that does that draft is very good. He does a mock draft for every major sports draft and i followed his mocks for the MLB draft last year and he was 70% right in his picks at the end including both the Diamondbacks picks in the first round.

I like the thinking behind almost every one his NFL mock picks this year save for the Cardinals pick. His selection of McClain to the Giants and Weatherspoon to the Patriots is pretty spot on in my opinion which doesnt leave us with much of choice in the first round. Id still say we are more like to pick Terrence Cody then Sergio Kindle in the first round but that debate is still up in the air tbh.

I wouldnt mind taking Dan Williams if Weatherspoon is gone. He'd be the best potential nose tackle left. good call.

If you are the Cardinals and Weatherspoon, Huges, and Dunlap are on the board at #26 who to you take?

Easy. Weatherspoon every day. The guy is a beast, tremendous athlete, great vocal leader and fills a big area of need.

Does Kindle have the athletic ability to play WILB? I realize he's much better suited for OLB but he's rated fairly high on a lot of boards and I think he may fall on draft day. He could be the top talent on the board at 26. He might be a better option than reaching if we can't trade down at that point. Maybe he could hold his own there until we can find a suitable replacement and move him outside. Just a thought.

He has the athletic ability no doubt, but my worry is his ability to get off blocks something he had problems with at Texas when plays were run at him

True, but playing WILB would protect him somewhat from taking on blocks.

I'd bet my left nut we don't come near Kindle.
I think the opposite. In fact, i'm thinking,if McClain is gone, that he's way up on the Cards choices at 26 and think he may be the guy. The advantage he has over Weatherspoon, and others, is that he's 6'4.

What does that have to do with anything?

Height isn't necessarily a good thing when it comes to OLBs anyhow, I rather they be be 6'2 than 6'4. You want them to be stout and able to plant and set the edge. Look at Dumerville (6'0).

I'm assuming they would play him on the inside in Dansby's spot. They're almost identical, sizewise.

Different skillset. Tony Gonzalez is the same size as Dansby too.

So you don't think Kindle could play WILB? I haven't seen enough of him but it sounds like he's pretty athletic and good in coverage.

I think he could but I dont think it would maximize his talents. I just don't think that you draft someone, especially in the 1st round, to play a different position than what you think they are best at. I know I am in the minority here (as usual) but I really like him as a 4-3 SSLB (think Orakpo last year). As an OLB he's a 1st rounder but as a ILB he a mid 2nd type IMO. Too much unknown IMO.

As has been mentioned before, college teams don't run 3-4's.

The Cards are looking at a few players that could transition to the WILB spot. I don't know if Kindle could handle it, definately not at the begining!

They are also looking at Sapp as a possible multi role player.

I still think that neither McClain or Weatherspoon will be available, and that we could concievably be entertaining the thought of trading down into the top of the 2nd round.

I think we will reach and take Lee in the 1st.
