Jurecki stated this morning that after the first mini camp Grimm had a talk with every single OL and told each and every one of them that they need to lose weight.

My question is did all of them come to mini camp overweight and out of shape, or is Grimm slightly changing his OL philosophy to include a little bit more athletic ability then his norm, or a combo of both.

I heard that too. I think they just need to be more mobile in Whiz and Grimms system. I seem to remember watching Pittsburgh and the linemen pull some of the time. We really haven't done any of that in the past and maybe Grimm wants those offensive linemen a little leaner so that they can pull.

one of the most agonizing things to watch last year was our big, fat OL trying to get in front of the Edge to make a block.

Penn State runs a lot of inside traps; Levi Brown is adept at pulling and trapping.

Check out the video clips (several links posted in this forum) of Brown. Lot's of pulling.

I think there is a long standing misconception that an offensive lineman needs to be huge to have success.... look what Denver does, they hardly ever have 300+ guys on their team and they churn out 1000 yard backs like I churn out ignorance

Everyone of our O-Line (exception: Wells) could lose 10 lbs. The effect on stamina and strength would be amazing.

It's all part of the change in tone that Whiz and Grimm are forcing upon this team - and THANK GOD!!
Their mission is quite clear. No more "talk" about being nasty, about playing hard, about winning... From now on, they want to ensure that when teams play the Cardinals, they will know and not forget what it meant to play the Cardinals. Line up and punch the other guy in the mouth first! Combined with our skill players, this combination of attitude and ability should be quite effective.
Denny "talked" alot about attitude and could never deliver. Whiz and Grimm are bent on first delivering, then talking... I like that!

Excellent observation. What I have not seen yet is where the so called taking plays off are? I saw Penn State play several times this year, and I admit I didn't focus on all the plays, but I too noticed how quickly he gets out on blocks. Very impressive.

That's the way the Cards used to play in the 80s early 90s. Teams would always talk about how tough and physical the Cards played.

Sadly the Cards never won then either.

I think Duece Lutui could stand to lose 15 - 20 lbs. He is a good athelete but his wieght is, and always will be an issure with him. Not to say Lutui is fat and lazy. I am saying that a little motivation can help him become a little quicker.

Yeah, I don't really care if the perception is that we are a "finesse" team if we win. Indy is "finesse", I'm guessing they don't give two craps about what other teams think about how physical they are.

Exactly. You play to your strengths and try to hide your weaknesses. Indy is a perfect example of that.
