I'm sure he is...I just hate it when people think others aren't "real fans" whenever their opinions differ.

Whatever type of fan swd is, he most likely is a fan and wants to see this team win. There is enough of a vein of pessimism and sorrow in this team and its fanbase that we REALLY don't need to be questioning the amount of fanblood coursing through our respective veins...

Not to say Ryan isn't a great fan, but that doesn't make his opinion the only one, or the right one.

Back to what we were talking about

I don't think it is worth trying to trade up we can get a solid player (at three) to fill one of the many holes we have. If anything I agree with sec. 11 trade down and get as many picks as we can. If Ben and/or Eli fall to three we can get an awful lot for that pick.

This is why I deleted my post because this was not the point I was trying to convey. I was just a little irked because he is constantly bagging the team for not losing the last game, its like a broken record...we get it already. I am not defining "true fans" or anything like that.

God knows I bag on the team as much as anyone....but to be pissed off because we didn't LOSE? Take it somewhere else, like the Vikings board, they are the only other people mad we won

The Cards did the right thing in trying to win. The Broncos bagged it versus Green Bay and they got hosed in their next game. Your team always has to try and win. And that is coming from a Vikes fan.

Its alright ddogg Ryan has been outed as a moron long ago.

What about a trade with Oakland. If it's true that Al Davis wants Fitzgerald and we want a QB, it would be in his best interest to trade down with us and get an extra pick and still get his man. And we would insure that we get either Ben or Eli. It makes sense to me.

Don't bother, man. He is just a sad, angry, not-very-mature little man who resorts to personal attacks against everyone who he disagrees with.

Maybe he is compensating for some physical shortcomings, I don't know.

True, but if we really believe he wants Fitzgerald, we have no reason to trade with him.

I think a big part of the attraction of the draft is the element of "poker" that's involved. Raiders want Larry, we want Eli or Ben, someone else wants one of them too. So the Raiders try to bluff us into dealing up one spot to guarantee we get a QB and they still get Larry. We in turn try to bluff them saying we will stand pat because we think they will pick Larry.

They then try to bluff us saying they'll trade down to someone who wants a QB, if we don't trade with them. We counter by saying fine, if the QB's are gone, we're taking Larry. I just love that stuff.

The Chargers fell for it the year they took Leaf, I think it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Moving up 2 spots has merit because you guarantee you get who you want, at a big cost, but moving up 1 spot you still only get your choice of QB's if San Diego doesn't take one, and if they don't, then you look pretty stupid moving up a spot.

Below is the beginning of an article from ESPN by PFW --

a couple interesting observations -- one being that the cost of moving up to #1 may not be that expensive this year.

I am officially on record in that if you (the Cardinals) conclude that Eli or Ben will be a upper tier QB in the NFL, you pay the price to move up to #1 and take your man.

The Cardinals revolving door at QB must end.

By Nolan Nawrocki
Pro Football Weekly

After San Diego gave up a hefty sum in the form of future draft picks and an exorbitant contract on bust quarterback Ryan Leaf, the Spanos family is leery of getting burned again and is not expected to keep the top pick to draft a quarterback. The Chargers likely will entertain offers from a team that covets either Eli Manning or Ben Roethlisberger, while looking to move down.
With quarterback being a need of both Oakland and Arizona -- the two teams drafting after San Diego -- there could be some simple maneuvering at the top, swapping first-round picks with a mid-round pick included. Or another team looking to stabilize their future quarterback situation, such as the Packers and Bills, could move up the board and give Manning or Roethlisberger the opportunity to be mentored by Brett Favre or Drew Bledsoe. Other teams, like Miami and Pittsburgh, could use upgrades at the quarterback position but more likely will look to the free-agent market for a veteran.

If the Chargers cannot move the top pick, don't be surprised if an offensive lineman is taken first overall for the first time since the Rams selected Orlando Pace in 1997. Iowa offensive left tackle Robert Gallery has the rare size, foot quickness, toughness and durability to protect a quarterback's blind side at an All-Pro level for 10 years and ranks among the top players in the draft. Miami junior tight end Kellen Winslow Jr., whose Hall of Fame father starred for the Chargers in the 1980s, does not play a premium position but ranks among the highest-graded players in the draft and will be an early value pick, going to a team that may not need a tight end but knows he is too good to pass up. Some scouts say he is better than All-Pro Tony Gonzalez right now, and his grade warrants consideration at the top spot, although it's very unlikely he'd go that high.

The draft and all its intrigue is my favorite part of the year. where did the rumour begin that we would trade? did Graves or Green say that?

1. Lies, rumors and more lies will be the rule not the exception going into the draft.

2. But that doesn't mean we can't read some more tea leaves.

3. There's been a one-year old rumor circulating that the Cards front office was drooling over Eli Manning.

4. Dennis Green apparently has hired Mike Kruczak (who with Alec Wood) helped develop Daunte Culpepper.

5. Therefore, it would not surprise me if Dennis and Rod decided to trade up to guarantee that they'd get Eli.

Do I agree with this? No! First of all, I like Roethlisberger better than Manning. Secondly, I'm not enamored with surrendering players or picks to move up one or two rungs. And finally, I'm still debating in my own mind whether the Cards would be helped more by adding Manning (& downgrading the potential of McCown) or placing all their cards on McCown and drafting Taylor, Fitzgerald, Harris etc.

Finally - How about this for a scenario? We swap picks with SD and throw in McCown? (Problem solved!)

Can we all agree that trading up to pick up any QB would be a crap shoot and we won't know the out come for a couple of years? I don't see how trading McCown would help anything. Staying pat and taking best available is my wish but we are all along for the ride.

Agreed. I don't want to pay to move up. That's why, for a time, I was upset we won that last game, but it was fun anyway.

I don't want to trade McCown away, now, even though I don't think he's the QB of the future. Why? Because he has potential to be good, and you can't have too many good QBs on your roster. I'm in favor of Best Available...and happen to thing Ben and Eli should be atop that list. Otherwise, probably draft Taylor.

Yup i agree. Although I think McCown cant carry Parsons jock strap. but Woods seems to like Parsons as well so we may get a chance to see it.

After what McCown did the last few games, I would have to totally disagree.

Parsons is the new Chris Griesen.

I love how there is NO EVIDENCE that Parsons can do jack against legitimate NFL competition in games that count, but he's like the most popular QB in the state of Arizona. What a joke.

If we stay at #3, and Davis takes Fitz at #2, one of the two QB's will be available anyway........why would we trade up?
