1) He said we're going to be primarily a double team kick-out bunch with some zone concepts. Oldest plays in football still work the best.
2) Loves 2 and even 3 TE formations, which means no more FB. Went on to say that the only way he keeps a FB is if they are a special teams dynamo since his TEs are required to do the same. Bye Sherman!
3) Also emphasized multiple front attacking defense... More man 2 man than zone.
4) Q has to be accurate deep and great at throwing into tight windows especially in the red zone.
5) Kept mentioning discipline, technique, and accountability.

LOVE this guy! Bruce Almighty has a nice ring to it.

sherman is one of the best FB in the league already so wouldnt mind him staying but if you can run with two TE instead of a FB it wont be so obvious that you plan to run when you do.

Great analysis, I like all except #2. Sherman had been a beast in AZ, and was even a captain last year. He came up on the Cardinals through Special Teams. I just can't see him going anywhere, at least until his contract is up.

It might be interesting to take a look at Sherman at SILB---he's an instinctive and physical tackler. Height might be a deterrent, however. But, for depth maybe?

Saw him play defense in high school and he was outstanding...a tackling machine.

wow... just when I thought I'd seen you really go overboard with the Steelers maybe trading Big Ben to us, now there's a chance our starting FB is really a SILB? I'm just... there are no words.

If they wont trade ben we can just use Floyd at QB and move housler to ss to replace wilson.

Trade him to a team who still uses a FB. Or turn him into an H-Back.

You've seen Sherman tackle on STs, right? He's one of the best 5 tacklers on the team.

I saw him play in high school---he was an outstanding linebacker.

FBs were often ILBers in high school.

Smaller sized ILBers actually have an advantage in that they can underneath the pad level of the RB.

Where lack of height can hurt is in coverage---not sure what Sherman's vertical is.

Sherman is 5-10, 245.

London Fletcher is 5-10, 245.

Joe Mays (Broncos) is 5-11, 250.

Pat Angerer (Colts) is 6-0, 236.

Daryl Sharpton (Texans) is 5-11, 230.

Bobby Wagner (Seahawks) is 6-0, 241.

Navarro Bowman (49ers) is 6-0, 242.

Lavonte David (Bucs) is 6-0, 233.

Curtis Lofton (Saints) is 6-0, 241.

Jon Beason (Panthers) is 6-0, 237.

D.J. Smith (Packers) is 5-11, 239.

Stephen Tulloch (Lions) is 5-11, 240.

All these players are ILB starters.

I am thinking of ways to keep Sherman, one of my favorite players. If he can't play FB, why not see what he can do at ILB?

I like me some Sherman - but I hope The Bean gets the carries he needs to establish the run game- not all the slow developing runs but some quick punishing blows right up the gut- behind the guards left or right- Hopefully Bridges is one of them.

That is an outside of the box suggestion, and maybe one this staff should look into

The idea in not using a FB is deception. The defense doesn't know exactly what's coming, therefore creating confusion. Seeing our RBs get hit at or behind the line of scrimmage due to predictable calls and formations is silly. I like the fact that we will have more flexibility by using multiple TE / HB sets. It's just smart football!

It really isn't unheard of for a position switch from linebacker to fullback and vice-versa

Heaven forbid we crawl out of our comfort zone and actually try something innovative.:bang:

Name one that happened at the NFL level.

I'm curious as well. Most successful O-D switch I've seen recently is Richard Sherman from WR to CB (though it happened in college). Ironic they have the same last name. Would love to see it here. But Sherman IS a great FB. I also like Lenon. He's old but still does a hell of a job. As long as he keeps it up, I don't care how old he is

Sounds like the Cards might be drafting a couple of TEs.
