How long has this been in the works?
“My agent told me about a couple of teams that have been interested. Probably about the last three or four weeks now.”

Why did you sign with Arizona?
“Arizona was just the best opportunity out of all the teams that were interested. You look at the roster situation . . . Bertrand Berry retired and the outside linebacking position gives me an opportunity to make the team and show what I can do at training camp.”

How much of a role do you think your performance last year played in getting you this offer or do you think the Cardinals had their eyes on you for a while?
“It had everything to do with them offering me (a contract). Last year was the first opportunity I had to start in the CFL and it really showed what I could do as a player. I’m sure that the success I had on the field this year gave them an opportunity to see my ability and want to sign me.”
I really think a whole offseason under Lott will help this guy. He seems hungry to work. Does kinda remind me a little of Dockett. Was passed up for DPOY for the CFL even though the guy that won (his teamate) had just a little lower stats than he did (http://www.leaderpost.com/sports/Baggs+feels+overlooked/2190877/story.html). Seemed pretty upset about it but not really character issue stuff. But I'm really impressed that its his first year starting and already he was close to being nominated for DPOY. I hope we have found a diamond in the rough here.

Thanks for posting this, Moe. Great job!

If John Lott can get this guy stronger, he might be a perfect fit as a rush linebacker for us. He gets to the QB and the Ball Carrier, he just needs to be able to lock them up and take them down now.

Believe me, he can.

Don't judge this guy on a few snippets of video.

I know this is not against NFL talent, but dang if this is not one of the prettiest sacks I have ever seen:

That is really cool! We all rolled our eyes when we drafted another unknown out of Richmond named Tim Hightower and that worked out pretty good. What is intruiging about Baggs is that he is built very much like Pittsburgh Steelers edge rushers (not very tall but very stout).

It's obviously impossible to predict a guy's effectiveness at the next level, but this guy really looks good. This may sound nuts, but watch the part where Baggs picks up the fumble and tries to run. He has what scouts refer to as flexible/loose ankles and for a pass rusher that is a really good thing. I once heard a scout talk about a unknown Division IAA pash rusher named Jared Allen. The scout raved about Allen's flexible ankles as a key to him being able to dip his shoulder and get the edge.

He actually has a bit of an odd gait because he's pigeon toed.

People should realize that the video shown is not a highlight package.

I won't go out on a limb with this guy, but, as mentioned previously - he could prove a very cheap, pleasant surprise come September.

I tweeted him earlier saying thanks for signing with the Cards. Actually messaged me back very quickly and said for our red birds this year he will be wearing #51. Just in case anybody (besides me) cared. And I'm with CC. This kid just seems to have "it" when I watch him play.

Do you think you can teach the rest of our defense how to tackle and to not miss the QB when blitzing? :D

Ask what is it about his game now that will help him succeed that he didnt have when he first tried to make it into the NFL in 2006. What is the difference between 2006 Stevie Baggs and 2010 Stevie Baggs.

Also what other teams were looking at him.

Interview set up! Really great guy (seems like) and good question Joe. Anybody else have anything to ask? Interview (probably) tomorrow so lets get some questions going...

So far I have:
1. Are you going to be doing John Lotts strength and conditioning program?
2. What makes the Stevie Baggs of '10 more ready for this opportunity than the Stevie Baggs of '06?
3. What player on the Cardinals are you most excited to meet? And what player are you most excited to play with?
4. What other teams were interested in you this offseason?
5. What do you consider your strengths and weaknesses on the football field?

I want to ask 10 questions. I have like 20 more but nothing worth posting. Any other ideas guys?

Looking forward to it. Here are couple random ideas.

- What is the biggest challenge as a defensive player playing against a 3-down offense versus a 4-down?

- What are your impressions of Whiz and Davis?

Good questions, especially the first one. I didn't even think about that.
