Is Alex Smith a possible QB for the Cardinals?

I watched Bortles at UCF, specifically his game against South Carolina. I still think he can be a pretty good player, takes some QBs years to become good.

A competition of Bortles vs. Gabbert isnt as bad as it sounds, with Arians, Moore, and Co. providing tutelage.
Well, you could take the best of any player's college tape & say this same exact thing.

Fact is, the dude has regressed every single year. Also, please don't show the season where he threw for 4.4K yards & 35 TDs like most of that wasn't garbage time & were down by a lot with him being a factor. Probably the most misleading season I have ever. How do you make a top 10 WR in Allen Robinson & Allen Hurns look bad.

Bortles vs Gabbert is definitely is as bad as it's sound. Don't be fooled other wise. Both busts that were drafted from Jacksonville, ironically.

All in all, I think Osweiler is the worst QB in the league, but Bortles sure gives him a run for his money.

Take a closer look at Bortles and you might change your mind. Word out of Jacksonville is that he's a drunk. Check out the Deadspin "Why Your Team Sucks" for Jacksonville and look at the fan comments.

That would partially explain his struggles.

I know since Keim has been GM, Bortles was one of the Qbs he liked based on comments he's made. Bortles has the tools to be really good.

What are those tools? He looks like garbage; his fundamentals are a mess. His teammates hate him:

Keim also expressed enthusiasm for Mike Glennon—who is terrible—and drafted Logan Thomas, who is garbage.

Cousins is terrible. He has good numbers but makes inoportune bonehead plays. No thanks. Now Stanford I would take, but as you say neither will be available.

Stafford does the same damn thing and cant win a big vame to save his life.. lol

until they are 3-6 half way through the season, or smith plays bad. i feel he's on a rather short leash

They won't be 3-6...and Smith will play as he always has. If anything, he's been pretty consistent at being average.

Keim should have definitively went after Mahomes aggressively, which he obviously didn't. Unlike the Chiefs, it wouldn't have taken our 2018 1st to jump into the 8-10 area. The Bengals at 9 took John Ross whom they easily could have gotten at 13. I love our draft picks too. Reddick could turn into the next D-Wash on the field and Baker into a healthier version of the Honey Badger. Yet there is no way they could have more impact than a young franchise QB. Mahomes has all the tools and would've had the luxury of sitting behind Palmer and possibly even behind Stanton. Judging the limited preseason action, Mahomes looks like the real deal and I'm absolutely sure he starts over Alex Smith at some point this season, unless Smith at age 33 magically turns into a QB that can put points on the board.

I read a lot about our #1 draft pick and the various QB's we should have moved up for. While, it's still early, maybe the three QB's mentioned will all turn out to be special. But when it comes to who we did draft, much of what I've read that he's an ILB project, since this is a new position for him. But I have not read much criticism for not drafting Rueben Foster, a true ILB. Reddick is more like Buccanon, who should be here for awhile and Foster is more like Dansby, who won't be around for long. JMO.

God no.

Outside of having one good drive after the half, He is playing awful today.

Alex Smith has come a long way but came out the year before Leinart. We need to get a long term guy. This is finally our year to draft one at the top.

Smith, Keenum, Brees (not likely though), Cousins. Just off the top of my head.
