After yesterdays beat down, compounding the heartbreaker for Dallas in the previous matchup, is anyone scared? I feel really good after yesterdays game going in to the playoffs. I would rather play Dallas and Dirks over rated ass, than deal with the frustration of looking at Tony Parkers face and breaking another remote because Ginobli is such a flopper. God I hate that guy.

Bring it on Cuban!
Chances are we wont even play the Mavs because I doubt they will make it out of the 1st round. Id better get ready for the flop. Manu, the modern day Divac, god save us all from this plague.

I think a lot of media guys thought that the mavs beating phx was all in their heads. mavs are a very good team. the suns are going to have to bring their A game. Phx has to play their A game allthorough the playoffs if they want to win.

The key to beating San Antonio is defending Tim Duncan. Parker and Manu (flopping man) needs feeds off Tim Duncan's game.

if they was any series that amare step up on both ends of the floor- its againts San Antonio.

Bell should rest his knees he is getting exposed out there.

they were wrong again.

Early in the game it seemed like a celebration of the Mavs season and the broadcast was gearing up to crown the Mavs with a victory in PHX.
But oops! damn they were wrong again.

Utah and Denver are probably the 2 teams I worry about the most, San Antonio next followed by Dallas, Lakers, Clippers and Rockets.

I seriously think that the Nuggets have zero chance against the Suns.

1st of all they do not play any transition defense which is lethal in itself against the Suns. Furthermore they have two selfish scorers and do not have any distributors.

The Nuggets?

they certainly have no shot, they beat the Suns when the stars were aligned.
they got lucky. 7 game series? they would get run out of the gym in 5. I hope the spurs get swepped in the 1st. that would make my year.

Any team that has big physical players and refs that allow physical play can give us problems. The Suns have the talent to beat any team in a 7 game series, but I'm not about to say Team X has no chance of beating us and the stars don't have to align for it to happen. We should know from the last 2 playoffs that injuries can happen and they can derail championship runs. Playing against the Suns gives every team in the league confidence because of the pace of the game and the belief that we don't play any defense, so any team can come out playing like the stars are aligned on any given night and we've seen that happen a lot this year.

Every team in the playoffs is CAPABLE of beating any other team, but matchups are an issue. The Suns have struggled more with Utah than Dallas, even though Dallas is a vastly better team due to matchups.

This week's game with the Spurs will be a real test. The Spurs were playing extremely well, although they've cooled off just a bit lately (three losses in the last 10 games.)

playoffs

I agree with you. I probably should not make such blanketed statements, yet the playoff are a whole different animal. Teams that have the most success have a combination of talent and experience. How much does Denver have? Very little. Iverson is the execption. I guess what I am getting at is, the playoffs change some folks sometimes and they can crack under the weight of the series. The best counter is experience and they dont have it.
They do have talent, no argument there. I dont think the can live in that world for more than 5 games against a beast like the Suns.

The homerism in that statement is astounding. Yes, let's not worry about the team with the best record in the NBA. Your right, you have absolutely no need to take into consideration the simple fact that they have over the entire course of the 82 game season won more games than you. The mere fact you blew them out so close before playoff time in one game is reason enough to discard that team, for sure.

But one thing you are right about is that you should be more scared of the Spurs. You will likely be playing them first and should be more concerned about them abusing you as they have in previous years (you know, IF the Suns make it out of the first round with Nash's overated ass). Then if you make it to the WCF you can have the pleasure of facing the Mavericks but until then, no don't be worried at all.

The most laughable part would definitely have to be Dallas not making it out of the first round playing an eight seed. How many times historically has that ever happened? That's just a bad prediction, especially about a team on pace to get the second best record in NBA regular season history. This is why I don't do drugs.

I agree that the post you quoted was extreme homerism and the majority of Suns fans would never dismiss Dallas as an easy opponent. Your argument that a 1 seed can't lose to an 8th seed but the 2 seed can easily lose to a 7th doesn't hold much water though. With the way the Suns have been sleepwalking through the end of the season, we've got to be a little worried about anyone we might face, but it was great to see our team finally play a solid complete game against the team with the best record in the NBA and I think some fans are a little too excited about it (which causes comments like the one above).

Scared?? No. Especially after the last couple games. However, I still know that the series will be close if we meet Dallas. Now that we won't see Dallas for some time, my focus is shifting towards the Spurs.

the big roadblock in front of us is still the Spurs because a) there is no Dallas series if we can't beat them and b) although we handled them well in our last game, we still haven't shown the ability to beat them in the playoffs.

So as far as that goes, I think the Spurs still have a minute advantage on us, which is mostly mental and experience based while I think a matchup with Dallas is a complete toss-up, with maybe the most minute advantage going to us because for some reason, with a healthy team, I just can't see Nash losing to the Mavs do to a superior mental edge.

I agree that the Spurs are a bigger hurdle simply because the Suns haven't beat them in the playoffs. That said, though, I think the Suns are built to play the Spurs. After the 05 playoffs the team signed Bell to guard Manu and traded for Kurt so he could play some D on a guy like Duncan. Seemed like the right thing to do at the time because the Spurs were the only team better then the Suns. But then the Mavs took over as the top team and the Suns were not built specifically to take them out. Sure they did it before. But all the new moves and changes after 04-05 were meant to balance out the Spurs, not the Mavs.

I actually think the moves they made were with the thought that it gives us the ability to match up with either team and I think we can. It appears that KT 's only real value will be found in two series at the most - against Duncan and Shaq - other than that, I really don't expect himt o get much burn at all in the playoffs.

KT will get some burn boxing out Dampier or Diop as well. Neither of those guys are great offensive players, but we need to keep them off the glass and KT is the best chance we have of doing that if forcing our tempo isn't working.

The Mavs getting bounced in the first is more hope than prognostication.
They Both could get bounced and not play the Suns and that is what I would like. I am a Suns fan. Not an NBA fan. I love the game but I love my team first. I want to see THEM not "ME" or "US" win. I love the Suns but last time I checked they were not paying my bills.

BUt this "HOMERISM" got you to put in your 2 cents. Dont get so mad
jeeze its only a message board!

I don't see it - it completely screws with our matchups against Dallas - he didn't see pine yesterday, in a double OT game, he only saw 5 minutes, didn't get a minute on the floor in the playoffs (and yes he was injured, but we were so depleted and getting killed on the boards he could have been SOMEWHAT useful if what you believe above is accurate) and in the two games we beat them in the regular season, he was injured and we beat them going small. In fact, in the two games he did play, we lost both.

he may play minimal minutes, but I would be surprised if he's part of any rotation against Dallas. He just doesn't match-up well with them because if He's on the floor, that means Amare has to guard Dirk and that spells trouble. He's effective against SA because you can stick him on Duncan and Amare can guard whatever other big will play (Oberto/Elson), same with the Heat with Shaq and Haslem.

Never been scared of the Mavs, although they're very talented and well-coached they're too mentally soft to win an NBA Title.

The Spurs are a whole other matter. Although they're clearly less talented than the Mavs and Suns, they're so damn smart on the court and with adjustments that it makes them very difficult to beat in a seven game series.

Do you even think it is a given San Antonio beats LA? Seems like they have trouble with them and if they try to make it a slow down low scoring contest Kobe might be able to go nuts against them and decide it.
Plus LA has some big man that they can throw at Duncan, Kwame, Turiaf are pretty good matchups against him.

I agree. The OT in Dallas really exposed Dirk. He wasnt even looking at the Hoop when he got the ball. He was tired and sluggish. Marion could cover him like that for days.

They might have the curse of Suns teams of lore. Talented but not "Tough Enough"

The blew the finals as a result of it in my opinion. They should have rings!
But they dont.

Good point. He probably will too. He is already killing people now and He is one of those players who takes it to a new level in the playoffs. Can they check Kobe for the series? Kobe will go nuts, the rest of those jokers is another thing.
