What is his value on the market
3nd round pick in return?

Hell no.

Should be 2nd round pick + Player where position is in need.

Or a 1st rounder.

He's still in his prime.

@kentsomers what could they possibly be asking for CC?? Why trade one of our leaders?

You're joking, right? No way we'd get that. With his age and contract, we're probably looking more at a 4th through 6th rounder.

We would be getting rid of a top 6-7 3-4 DE who also plays the NT well too.

If we're trading him for a 4th-6th rounder, we are getting ripped off.

Calais has been trying to sign with a new agent...not sure if he has yet...but his cap figure of $15.2M needs to be addressed asap.

The best chance the Cardinals have of trading him may be on Day 2 or 3 of the draft when the surplus of good defensive linemen are off the board and a team that missed out in FA and the draft on adding an impact DT/DE might be eager to make the trade on the condition that Campbell and his agent are willing to work out a new deal.

It's a tough year to be shopping a defensive lineman because of the ones available in FA and especially because this is the deepest draft for d-linemen in years.

It could be too that Steve Keim has every intention of drafting a DE/DT early in the draft...or...adding one on FA like Jaye Howard or Nick Fairley. In all likelihood Muhammed Wilkerson and Malik Jackson are too pricey.

Plus, the coaches are intent on moving Rodney Gunter to DE.

He's 29 and healthy throughout his career.

Given that it's in the last year, a new contract makes his present deal largely irrelevant.

Yes, but the best the Cardinals can hope for is a 3rd or 4th or a player.

Better trade him while he has good value instead of trading him at age 30 after another high pay middle road production year.

Even if we manage to find a really good DE, teams still seem to plan for him. Put some stiff out there and now you have everyone keying on whomever we sign. If you sign nobody?!? You think it was bad last year? Wait until next season.

BOOoooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

It's not a great FA market and there are teams with crazy amounts of CAP room who or going to overpay for FA's. The last thing we need to do is create another hole on the team that we need to put CAP money or draft capital into.

CC is getting over paid by 5 million or so. Cutting him creates 10 mil in CAP space that we will need to spend on a FA DE to fill the hole.

DUMB DUMBER & DUMBEST.

Campbell didn't live up to his salary in 2015. That is not really debatable. But, you have to have a plan if you are going to create holes. I'm not sure we have one to fill all of the holes trading Campbell would create. I have no issue with seeing what he is worth on the trade market, but I'm not sure you can get what he is worth to the Cards.

I'm sorry but trading Calais ain't improving our defense or helping our chances for winning the Super Bowl in the next 2 years!

Is he refusing to take a pay cut? Sure he's overpaid but most of the top paid players are.

I gotta think they are shopping him. BA has been on his ass the last two years about being more productive and not going to sleep out there. Yes, Campbell has been productive, but nowhere near what he is capable of. He plays pretty emotionless, and I really think BA would like to replace him with someone who has a fire in his belly. Campbell has a lot of ability, but not much 'want to' about him. As a defensive leader, BA wants to see more leadership out of him or replace him with someone who will lead. Our front seven plays pretty emotionless.

One keeps Campbell because when he plays across from a guy with a mean streak suited for the DL, he does start to dominate and looks elite. Campbell the man is a standup, amazing guy and that is the most important thing about him which I respect and admire but on the field he has no mean streak. This is the NFL, you are not going to dominate upfront being even keel, you have to go into a violent mode to be a game changer unless you are blessed with the finesse the likes of Dwight Freeney has and not many have that quickness. Eric Swann was big and talented but his best trait was he could get down right psycho, and put the fear of God into the whole OL, and make the QB shudder. Dockett in his prime had that crazy factor and that was when Campbell then played like a stud lined up next him. My favorite DL guy of all time was Deacon Jones, and he had that craze fanatic disposition which made him a force

I think the problem with Campbell is he plays at the level of the other players around him. When he had Dockett playing next to him he upped his game and has the talent to do so. Now that he has guys who are good solid players but not the likes of Dockett he plays at their level and not at the level of his ability. I think BA wants him to play at the level of his ability and he doesn't do that. For $15M a year he needs to play at the level of his ability and he is not doing that.

After thinking about this awhile, I have to agree with Jetstream Green. That is not to say that BASK aren't wanting to instill fire into the defensive front seven, (BA clearly has attempted to light fires under CC the past two years). Clearly they want a fiery bellied front seven guy to lead this defense, and the same could be said for the offense. CC clearly has played better when teamed with a player like Darnell Dockett who played with passion and fire which stoked the rest of the defense. A rush, OLB like Bruce Irvin from Seattle could be just that guy, and though he has some warts, I believe that this roster is good for keeping him with his nose to the grindstone. Meanwhile our 3/4 seems better suited to his game than Seattle's defense was. He could dramatically improve his productivity, AND get CC to improve his as well. I no longer believe that they are shopping CC, but rather are planning on restructuring his contract to a more suitable figure for the team. I could also see BASK pursuing Richie Incognito to fire up the OL as well for reasonable cost to the team.
