Is Geno Smith worthy of a top 10 pick?

Hell no, the Cardinals should NOT draft a QB this year IMO. I would like to see the team get Teo, get back into the first round to draft OL, then grab OL with next two picks as well.

Te'o is my first choice as well. It's alright if we don't draft a QB this year, but if that happens we absolutely must bring in a competent vet via trade or FA.

After the Redskins took RGIII last season, they had another one fall to them in the 4th Rd. I believe it was, and they nabed the Mich. St. kid Kirk Cousins. He also has good potential in this league.

I wouldn't mind seeing us do that in this draft, where someone like Mike Glennon or Tyler Bray fell to an area in the draft where the reward vs. risk was tremendous. This after taking one of the better prospect by round 2 or later in round 1 with a trade back or up.

This could be a good strategy (trading back) if they're targeting either T. Wilson, Nassib or Barkley later in the 1st and don't care which one they draft as they might grade out very close.

This would give them an extra pick at least to pull that trigger on a 2nd QB pick if they don't think Hoyer will stick and haven't signed another vet by draft day.
It could hedge their bet somewhat if anything happened to the 1st Rd. pick.

The other strategy they could use is, stay put take the best non-QB prospect on their board 1st pick and hope like heck someone they;'re high on makes it to them in the 2nd RD. Or don't risk it and trade up using a 3rd or 4th Rd. pick and get they guy you want. That'd also work. But you better be sure he's the guy you really want and is a pretty good distance away from your next highest rated QB.
The only way trading back should be an option is if we didn't trade ourselves out of a legit blue chipper like Te'o or one of the top 2 tackles. Also (although we'd be foolish to count on that strategy) we should see what we can come up with in trades or free agency before committing ourselves to any strategy in the draft.

Kevin Kolb (with a renegotiated lower price contract), Matt Barkley & Brian Hoyer.

Of course you could substitute Barley's name with Tyler Wilson.

I think Geno Smith will be gone when we pick and the Cards will either take Barkley or Wilson.

:barf: Cheaper crap is still crap.

I'm not a fan of Barkley. Not sure about Wilson.

Bottom line is that there really are not many good options out there for qbs. We have crap, the qb draft class is not very good and there really are no good free agents that will be available.

Doesn't mean we have to roll with the same crap as before. That's why our FO (hopefully a revamped FO) gets payed the big bucks--to get us a QB in difficult times. We don't know if there will be a good QB prospect or so for us in the draft yet, and we don't know who may be available to acquire in the league.

There's not a single QB worthy of a Top 10 pick this season. All have major flaws.

Plenty of defensive talent though

I also read something about Flacco not being back with The Ravens. Looked around for it again and can't find the article (PFT maybe?) It had to do with the Cameron firing I believe. If Flacco could be had??????

I wonder if it would be difficult to afford Flacco with the $11 million cap hit we'd take on Kolb. But it would be good. Flacco's a really, really difficult market to gauge. Love to pay him like Matt Schaub, probably wants a $100 million deal.

Baltimore would be pretty dumb to let him even sniff free agency.

We can't afford to rely on any single source for upgrading the QB position (otherwise, quite possibly, guys of the caliber of Flacco or Rivers won't be available and we'll have boxed ourselves in (i.e. being forced to reach for an average QB in the draft, letting time become our enemy or being on the sucker's end of a bad trade.

We, therefore, must explore every avenue and be prepared to leap quickly should a really good opportunity develop - wherever it might come from.

Which is why we should keep Kolb around and add Hoyer to our stockpile of options.

One other indirect factor we fans should be cautious about - if we're too rough on ownership, individual players and the current regime, we might create a situation where FA's won't want to come here. (We can be critical, but we should be responsible in the way we say stuff).

i don't think players from outside our organization have a freaking clue who cardinals fans are. what we say is immaterial to them coming here.

I read the reason they let Cameron go was because Flacco hated him. That sounds more an endorsement for keeping Flacco than letting him walk.

You could trade Fitz and a #1 for a top young QB like RG3 or Luck- and He would fail in this system- The put pressure on the defense by passing them to death Kurt Warner strategy is all but over- Defenses have went 3-4 with smaller faster coverage LB's like Dwash- Safety/LB hybrids rather than Lb/Dline hybrids.

We came late to the party , I thought we turned the corner on the run game- but it only lasted for 1/2 a game with Lindleys rookie start- We lead 13 to 10 with a balanced game plan- He ended up with 52 pass attempts in his first NFL start- That is stupid coaching- Mike Miller failed as a PGC and an OC - yet nobody talks about him? except me?

Yup you're the only one. Not a single person on this board has complained about Mike Miller except you.
