Is it me or does Greg Anthony hate Nash and the Suns?

Anthony last week got very angry in defending Shaq as the MVP. Anthony was very adamant in saying Nash can't play defense and Shaq is an all-around player. He also said Shaq has made the Heat better with less to work with and that Nash has all-stars in Amare and Marion. No one ever brought up the fact that last year the Suns had one of the worst records and Amare and Marion were on that Suns team.

Now tonight Anthony talks about how Nash is going to have his hands full with Memphis' guards and that the Suns could lose this series. His hate is so obvious.

I don't think he has anything against the Suns. I agree with most of his points about Shaq being the MVP, but even Anthony (as I) stated they would have Nash 2nd in the voting. Memphis has given us trouble this year, and they are healthy now (although not playing that great). I don't think it's unreasonable they would give us trouble, although we should definitely win the series.

Shaq nis not even the best player on their team IMO.
Nash has elevated Amare and Marion to All Star status. Johnson has also shown great improvement under his leadership

Exactly! Shaq is not even having a great year. Ok, so Heat is the #1 team on the East, so what? Suns is the #1 team in NBA!!

This argument that Nash has Marion and Amare so Nash doesn't deserve the MVP award is plain BS. Nash is a point guard and of course he needs PLAYERS to help him. His job is to run the team, provide leadership and improve other players which he did!!

Do you think Amare would get into all-star without Nash? Just ask yourself this question! Marion is very consistent but without the #1 record, I doubt he'll make it to the all-star as well.

Nash has been to all-star twice already so isn't Nash an all-star??

Oh yeah and Shaq has Wade... and that doesn't count anything, does it?

What I feel is a sense of jealousy. Greg himself is a point guard and it is kinda "odd" that the MVP award goes to a poing guard like Nash but who else deserves better than Nash this year? I think it's just jealousy...

If it's not Nash, then I think the award should go to Dirk. He has a career-high stats this year and his Mavs is the Top 4 team and potentially has the same record as Shaq's Heat (on the West and in TX Triangle!!).

Anthony thinks the Grizzlies will beat the Suns but he is too chicken to say it.

First he said "a 7th or 8th seed will win a series" but wouldn't say which one.

Later he talked up the Grizzlies and said nothing good about the Suns.

I like it. If I remember right he was down on the Suns to start the regular season.

First of all I think you are digging a little deep with this "jealousy" idea. I think it probably has more to do with the idea that the Phoenix Suns don't play very good defense, particularly Nash. Remember that Anthony played his days in the most boring, defense oriented basketball system in the modern era... Pat Riley's New York Knicks.

Miami's winning percentage against Western Conference teams this season was 60%. Assuming they beat Orlando tonight they're winning percentage against the Eastern conference would be 79%. If we give them 52 games against the Western Conference and 30 against the east they would have a 55-27 record, and that's always rounding up in their favor.

Unless they were in the Northwest division to take Seattle's third seed that would put Miami in the fifth spot in the Western Conference playing on the road against Dallas. They would have the fourth best record in the Western Conference and the NBA behind Phoenix, San Antonio, and Dallas. Keep in mind that I did round up, and those numbers don't take into consideration that they might not win at 60% against the Western Conference teams if they were facing them on a more regular basis.

Still, there's no arguing that what Shaquille O'Neal has done with the Miami heat has been impressive. We can argue all day over whether he is even the best player on his team. Frankly we could do the same with Steve Nash. There's no arguing though that outside of Shaq, Wade, and possibly Eddie Jones the Miami Heat don't look that good on paper. Steve Nash, Tim Duncan, and certainly Dirk Nowitzki are all surrounded by a stronger cast of characters.

I have seen quite a few Suns games after all-star (thank god they start broadcasting more!) and I really don't think Nash's defense killed us. Our biggest problem is our defensive rebounding and not Nash's defense. I am not saying Nash has great defense but it's good enough for us to win at least 62W isn't it?

If Shaq turns Heat from a 29W to a 62W, I'll give him the MVP. The same goes to any player!

I can't wait until someone turns Hawk into a Top 3 team in one season. Now, that's MVP!!

I just don't buy that Nash doesn't deserve MVP because of Amare and Marion. Isn't this what MVP does? To improve your team and your teammates' game? If Shaq can turn Wade into all-star, so can Nash.

Nash isn't the "best" player of course. He is a point guard and his brillance needs to shine through his teammates. But MVP is not for the BEST Player award. We have NBA First Team for the best player on different positions.

I just think people keep mixing MVP with BEST player. This year's best player(s), stats wise, should go to Lebron/KG/Dirk/AI.

People are going to pikc against us in EVERY series - I can't wait to see the unanimity when we play Dallas - it's gonna be "the upset" series - just watch. But screw 'em - people have been doubting us all year long - 31-4 - it's a fluke (Ric Bucer at the time - they won't win more than 55 games)... we go on a 6 game losing streak - everyone says I told you so... we come back to win 10 of our next 12... alarming loss to Houston... we win 8 of our last 9 at home... Denver's the hottest team in the league - We beat them 3 times during their streak (one without Amare)... and now we're liekly playoff roadkill.

Keep doubting us - it's been working great all season long. I welcome the doubters and the chip it puts on our shoulders.

Bring on the playoffs baby. BRING... IT... ON!

Funny tidbit no one in the media likes to bring up. We've had the best regular season since the 2000 Laker team that won 67 games. We're not only a high scoring team, but we're the HIGHEST scoring team in A DECADE.

Treat us like the Mavs - that's fine - it's just a simple misunderstanding of the game. We revolutionized the game this year - but I guess winning 55 games in the East is more impressive - what a joke.

I still think Detroit is the team to beat overall - to be the best, you've got to BEAT the best but the two greatest title contenders below the defending champs are definitely us and the Spurs. Sean Elliot can eat a... you get the pitcure.

yeah i almost cant watch the games with my dad because he listens to too much talk radio. but there isnt much to argue with when they go 62-19. haters will keep hate'in. i think most of the talk show guy just dont want to admit they were stupid for doubting the suns early in the season and so they look for ways to redeem themselves.

I totally agree - peopley arejust DYING to say I told you so. I think even if we took SA to 7 games and lost on a last second full court heave or BEAT SA and lost to the Pistons in the Finals, the FIRST thing you would hear is - "See, I told you that style won't work in the playoffs!"

Can't wait for the playoffs to start - can't wait - don't let us down boys we've been carrying the torch with you all season - now it's time to obliterate the league like we did at the beginning of the season.

Would be nice to see a huge blowout in Game 1 - a statement game - but I'd take any old win.

I do think that Detroit will come out of the Eastern conference, but I have to admit that I still have trouble giving them too much credit for last year's championship. They could not possibly have been more lucky on their way to title. First they look like they are going to get knocked off by New Jersey, and Jason Kidd gets hurt. They are in a battle against Indiana, and the Pacers lose Jermaine O'Neal. Then in the finals they get the Lakers minus LA's MVP last season, Karl Malone. Hopefully this year we won't see so many series and playoffs changing injuries.

That said, I think Detroit will handle Miami quite easily. I don't think it will take more than five games.

Cheese, I also think it's funny the way the media compares this year's Phoenix Suns to the Dallas Mavericks of the last couple years. This offense is significantly better, and this team is capable of playing better defense than those Dallas teams. Last year's Dallas Mavericks for example was horrid defensively. Virtually every starting position was manned by notoriously weak defender. Only Michael Finley was regarded as a decent defender, and it is clear he has lost a step.

It's an easy comparison, but it isn't correct.

I figure the NBA finals this year will be Detroit versus Phoenix, San Antonio, or Dallas.

Good job! That's exactly why I said Underdog BITES. :) We don't just bark, we bite. :)

So many people are waiting for "I told you so..." statements. We've already won 62 games which already beat their "I told you they will cool down in the 2nd half of the season!".

I have to agree with you Joe. I've been a huge Mavs fan. In previous years, the biggest problem is that Mavs was full of shooters and no inside game. Amare is the key difference why this year's Suns is different from Mavs. And also, in terms of defense, we have Marion who is AWESOME.

Another big difference is Mavs had no center. I know they had Bardley and Lafrance? (spelling) but they rarely take any shots and the offense doesn't run through them at all. This year's Suns is like 5-men offense team. Every one of us can score on their own so the opposing team can't leave anyone open like they did to Mavs' centers.

This year's Suns is better!

Oh, and one more thing... this year's Suns is way more athletic!

I disagree.

Nash has been the missing catalyst, but he isnt the reason why Marion and Amare are all-stars or JJ playing well.

Marion has been playing like this for a while he was also all-star with Marbury a couple of seasons ago, Amare's improvement, you knew he was gonna be in this year's all-star or the very least next years.

JJ, was a 16 5 5 player last season, he was great.

Nash this season was the missing ingredient that made the team really play well together, because we already had good players but without consistent directions. With Nash, suns had that general and we had an identity... a running and gunning team.

So No, I dont think Nash made all-stars out of Marion/Amare, and to a lesser extent JJ. He just made the team better because he plays the role that the suns needed the most.
