Is Kevin Kolb capable of doing what Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers are doing tonight?

Why? The Cardinals aren't patient when your season ticket bill is due.

There is no reason at all that Kolb can't do what Brees and Rodgers did. #1 we have Larry Fitzgerald. #2 we have a brilliant play caller in CKW. #3 you don't win NFC player of the week twice if you got no skills.

Kolb got the big money now he needs to go out and earn it. If I wanted to have patients I would have been a doctor. (Would have too if pre med hadn't been so easy it bored me to death)

I can't believe I'm actually responding to this but:

1) you don't pay to see a winner, you pay to see a football team. The Cardinals have shown that only three times in the last two decades we've made the playoffs. If you're still investing, who's face is the egg on? Just saying...

2) It takes time to acclimate a playbook. To ask Kolb to be Brees/Rodgers right away is a little crazy. You take something that you're slightly better than most people in you're field, go to a brand new company where everyone basically is speaking another language, learn 8 word phrases in a week by week time (down pat because everyones expecting you to know them), and take them into a work field competing with other companies; who mind you are just as good at their jobs (if not better) and have been doing it in their system for quite some time. Everything takes a little time.

3) Brilliant play caller in CKW? Please. Love the guys play calling but come week 4 I bet we have 10 threads on why we need a real OC.

Will we run or pass 70%+ of the time with Mike Miller?
Our oline has done some things right! Feed the good dog, starve the bad!

IF we make them pay for blitzing the passer with Beanie and Todd Heap TD's, we can get on a roll early this season.

You see I have not seen another RB line up at the WR position as much as the bean? while everybody disrespects, you don't want your 2ndary being punished by Mr Wells, licking their wounds and then trying to defend Mr Fitgerald.

Max protect Kolb like a real football team with a new QB, make Newton beat us, not destroy ourselves. like the same ole Cards.

I think this has to be the most shocking suggestion ever posted on this board THESMEL, the dude was hardly big enough to throw the ball 20 yards and now you want to bring him back, with a injury and all, and make Max Hall protect Kolb. With his size and lack of pass blocking form, Kolb would be doomed with Max on the OL or in the backfield on third downs blocking LOL

I hope you are saying this tongue in cheek because Smel meant maximum protection on passing downs not bring Max Hall back.

The encouraging thing for me was how dominating the Pack looked last night, and the fact that our 1st team seemed quite capable of playing with them on an equal level...we will see...I know it was preseason, so no need to remind me, just see potential for some good things ahead...and this year even...just sayin'

#1 is so ridiculous it doesn't deserve a response.

#2 I hear that excuse all the time. These guys have been playing football all their lives. It shouldn't take a guy who won 2 NFC player of the week awards that long to get enough of the playbook down to beat Carolina, Washington and Seattle. The short pre season didn't seem to keep Randall Cobb from performing last night.

#3 The pass to Hightower for the win? The pass to Spach to clinch? Getting Fitz open for a 64 yd TD in the Super Bowl? Not a great playcaller? Please.

For one game, definitely. Consistently throughout a season, possibly. Consistently throughout his career, no.

+1

The money is in his pocket. He'd better perform.

I don't know much about kolb's nfl potential. I wasn't as impressed with him last year as I thought I would be. at houston he tore it up. what I do know is that the guy that took his job away from him in philly cannot do what brees and rogers did last night with any type of consistency. we will see what kolb does in arizona. I hope he makes philly look stupid.

Thats why they play the games. He has the physical skill though of both of those guys, although not as accurate as Rodgers who is my favorite non Cardinal.

We do need to be patient. Expecting him to be in Week 1 what he is in Week 10 is probably not playing the odds.

THIS ONE IS FOR YOU KOC. TIM WE DID IT.
I dont watch alot of other games besides the Cards games and MNF or SNF. So need some info. Did Aaron Rodgers go through a bad spurt or did he come out blazing and only got better? was he a better QB sitting on the bench because GB would never bench Farve? Or was it he wasnt really ready and when he was..Farve was gone?

No bad spurt. He just sat on the bench for 3 years and learned from Favre.

If you actually look at the stats, Rodgers numbers for the years he has played so far are much better than Favre ever did. And Favre I think is going into the HOF.

I'm jealous. :(

I is much to early for that but he sure looked great today. Great runback by our new DB but he needs to do a lot on in his coverage as he was beaten all day by Smith. Our TEz sure added to our offense and Doucett is a man. Arron Rogers looks like the best QB in football now. He looked absolutely awesome the other night. I am more than just happy with Kolb. I am almost astounded as I was not a fan of his when we got him. If he can play like he did today for a few games more I will be really happy. The defense looked very good also except for our DB's who were getting beat all day. We got to solve that problem. Great way to start a season and the division favorite St Louis lost. I am concerned we only have Beannie in there as he is going to get hurt or run out of gas. Where is our new guy from Chicago? LaRod is fine but he cannot take a pounding. No one can all year long. Find another RB coaches to go along with Beannie who looked like the Beannie we thought he was going to be.

Very good answer....what a great game...gutsy call by the refs under the circumstances....Kolb has the potential to be one heckuva qb, but he needs help from OL as you point out.....GB line was somewhat suspect but boy they sure came around quickly....

Let us not forget we played the team with the worst record in the NFL last year. Next week let us see if we look as good as we did today. A win is a win is a win. I say if we win our first three in a row we win the division. You can always count on Fitz to make a big play when it is needed. Sure glad you are going to be around for a while.

Rodgers looked like Joey Harrington to me his rookie season during the preseason and during mop up duty. He improved his arm strength and accuracy over the years. No reason Kolb can't do the same over time. Kolb seems mentally tough compared to guys like Leinart and Harrington which is the biggest thing to me.
