Let's be honest guys, I know we all like Kolb since last years offense featured some of the worst QBs to ever play in the NFL, but he has done nothing this year aside from taking advantage of blown coverage on every one of his TDs. He reminds me so much of Smith with his inconsistent play and lack of poise in the pocket with his tendency to roll out.

I hope he proves me wrong.

I'm worried about Kolb's progression:

Week One: 2TD 0INT
Week Two: 2TD 1INT
Week 3: 1TD 2INT
Week 4:

I think the OL's lack of pass protection is a big reason for his miscues. SEA had a lot of hurries and pressures on Kolb meaning he forced some of his throws today. Credit SEA's defense for a great plan to contain Larry, didn't hurt that Beanie was out today. The OL needs to do a much better job in pass protection. Also we need an OLB pass rusher, Campbell was a beast today but he needs help. 2 OT's, ILB (to complement D-Wash) & and a pass rushing OLB is what this teams needs to go after this offseason, PERIOD.

The dude's played in 3 games in a completely new system with little to no off-season.

It's just too soon.

Kolb has 10x the physical tools that Smith has in terms of being an elite QB at this level. I think his current shortcomings can be attributed to a below average line and lack of experience. There's sure to be more bad games and learning experiences this year, but if this is the "still mastering the offense, still gaining experience" phase, I for one am very excited about the "mature QB and master of the playbook" phase!

Smith beats him in almost every single catergory and yet Kolb is 10X times...let me repeat that again...TEN TIMES more physical? your homerism is astounding. Alex Smith is one of the toughest QBs in the game according to Harbaugh and Singletary. 49ers fans are split 50/50 on him as our QB but I can assure you that no one has ever questioned his heart and toughest.

I will also bet you Alex's arm strength is much better than Kolb's. In fact Kolb's lack of arm strength is the reason why most experts think that he will be a bust.

Size , hi cones, dashes? height, weight ? There is no doubt what so ever that kolb is much more physical than Smith on a football field. I would bet that when all is said and done Smiths QB numbers will be nowhere near what Kolb will do once we fix the tackle spots. Kolb has the potential and the skill set to be a top 15 QB. Smith a bottem 10 QB.

Well maybe only 50X better.

I find little solace in your above statement, considering that Cam Newton faced the same off-season as Kolb, and is also in a new system, and has only played three games, and he had NO prior pro experience like the one year with the Eagles that Kevin Kolb had. Kolb at least had some pro-game experience prior to coming here this year. Newton does not, yet he seems to be faring quite well thank you.

Do you even know what physical tools mean? I guess Tom Brady is the most physical QB in the NFL based on his numbers on the field, an even better specimen than Vick himself.

Kolb hasn't done jack squat in the league to even mention him in the top QBs discussion. I feel bad for you because you are just setting yourself up for bigger dissapointments.

I saw those two horrible interceptions that killed your team today, man. Don't act like I don't have a television. Smith, on the other hand, had a game winning drive. And his stats would've looked alot better if you took away the 2-3 drops and TD that the refs cheated us out on.

I was at work yesterday and had the TV on but the only games I got were the Bengals/Niners and Browns/Dolphins. Alex Smith is starting to approach DA levels of bad. Him and Dalton are not good. At least Dalton is a rookie and shows some promise. On the flip side, Chad Henne looked good.

When did Alex Smith throw for over 800 yards and 5 TD's in a 3 game stretch when his team wasn't eliminated?

Kolb is a completely different guy Smith is afraid to take chances, most of his mistakes are just bad throws, inaccurate, wide, high etc. So far most of Kolb's issues have been bad DECISIONS, he's not afraid to try and make a play, Smith is.

Kolb has a 94.5 rating after 3 games, he can get better, he's missed some guys, he's rushed some throws etc. But the fact is we can move the ball this year and we couldn't last year.

If Roberts and Doucet pick it up and we get Beanie back healthy, the offense will be ok, the key is can Kolb get enough time from the OT's to make plays.

Well, we'll see who is still a starter in this league come next season. That is, of course, if Kap is not at the helm by mid-season... then we won't have to wait for the answer.

And you have to remember this was only Kolb's 10th start.

Still inexperienced even though it seems like he has been around for ages.

Kolb is no Alex Smith.
I am very happy with Kolb, give him that extra 1-2 seconds of protection he currently doesn't have he will be a top ten QB in the league very soon.
Upgrade the tackles and one can clearly see.

He's learning a new system with new coaching and new players with virtually no offseason. This year will be a learning experience for him. I'll wait until next year until I start to judge Kolb's tenure with AZ.
