Was watching ESPN this morning and they were talking about Gibbs. Apparently he's there at least one more year, and despite FINALLY going to Ramsey, the feeling is he's not Gibbs guy and he probably won't be back. They seemed to be implying that Gibbs is basically showcasing him for a trade.

Ramsey signed a 5 year 5.7 million deal, he's in year 3 so he'll have 2 years left. he was the QB taken BEFORE Josh, not great numbers so far but has played with 2 horrible OL's and last year had 14 TD 9 picks and was literally beaten to death by Spurrier's insistence on running his system with no QB protection. This year he has 2 TD 6 INT and finally got the job and a week to prepare last week and played "decent".

Still has an upside, has a great arm, wonder if he's on Green's radar screen as a QB for next year?

Gosh, I hope not. I hear Ramsey has a fairly fragile psyche and that that is one of the main reason's he's not a "Gibbs guy." He gets rattled easily by what the media says, and he hasn't taken the benching well at all--and not in the good competetive way where some guys might say "damnit, I'm going to work harder and earn the starting spot back," but rather in the way where he says "whoa is me. They told me I was supposed to be the starter. That's not fair. ...I promised myself I wasn't going to cry."

I liked the kid's potential up until I heard this (on Sirius sat. radio--Tom Brady's favorite receiver).

I don't know if he will be the guy or is even on the list but to me those are the type of QB's that will end up vying for the job.

I don't see DG going with a rookie QB through the draft in year two of his deal if he didn't go that way in year one he really shouldn't in year two.

Ramsey is exactly the type of guy Green feels can run a system like his and be much better than expected.

Interesting, I found this article this morning on him that would seem to imply that Gibbs really liked the way he handled the benching.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A55314-2004Nov16.html

Also says the fans love him, were chanting for him weeks in a row. Also says his teammates love him because they respect him for taking that beating last year and NOT complaining.

In fact if I'd read that article before posting, I probably would have never posted, from that article you sure don't get the idea Gibbs doesn't like him.

I just think he has the arm Green looks for, a nice contract, and an upside. He's having a bad year to date that's for sure.

That's my take, has the arm, needs a "second chance" and has a contract that would make him affordable for 2 years if he were really available.

Like you I don't see Green drafting a rookie high, if King takes over great, if he doesn't I see us signing a FA or trading for someone like Ramsey.

Now Couch fits the idea of what pariah and Clif said, but I really haven't heard that about Ramsey.

Hmm. That is interesting. I hope it's true, because it adds one more potential QB to the list.

If I recall correcty, the guy who was saying he was soft was a DC sportswriter that was interviewed by Shine and Riggins.

I guess I'll withold judgement until I see what he does the rest of the year (and I suppose Gibbs probably will, too).

i think couch's days of starting are long over.... he would be lucky to be a #2 again. I just dont get it. the guy was decent in college and made some plays in the NFL. I would give him a break after playing in Cleveland under Butch Davis. I think he can produce.

Honestly it wouldn't be out the realm of possiblity that we would sign two of these type QB's. Ramsey would be relatively cheap and then Couch more expensive but I think if you had two while most likely keeping Navarre not Josh since I think he's done here then to me the odds tip in your favor of someone stepping up.

no way can you get both. In that case we have QB controversy all over again next year. I also think the team has a better chance in getting couch (not that I want that)

Ramsey is better than anyone on our roster at QB other than Navarre and I only say that because navarre has no NFL starts.

I don't think DG worries about QB controversies that much. I still say that if King plays ok but not great then we will probably only get one QB like you said.

If King bombs then we almost have to get two and it would be dangerous to go with two low draft choices and one retread.

I think you could make a case for Josh as the backup but I really think that bridge is burnt.

Well, I did watch King play for 4 YEARS and Ramsey play for 3 YEARS, so I might have a pretty good idea how good both are, and yes King is much better. Ramsey does have and absolute cannon for an arm, but he doesn't have the intangibles King does. Favre is the only QB who might have a better arm than Ramsey, but that does make him a DG QB cause he can stretch the field.

In fact, while Ramsey and King are obviously friends and former teammates, Ramsey would never want to come to a team with King. Ramsey was never able to come close to the success King had at Tulane and I seriously doubt he would be interested in competing with him. .

I'm quite serious. King was a college football legend in Louisiana, and when you follow a legend it always hard. Ramsey had to hear for years about how he didn't match up to what King did.

No one ever wants to follow a legend, especially a coach or quarterback.

Read something else that says his agent is a major whiner, was talking about Ramsey wanting out, Ramsey actually had to go public and say no I don't want out so maybe that's where that stuff came from?

Couch has a bad arm, shoulder I think, he's seeing Andrews the arm specialist in Georgia to see if he needs surgery. That's why nobody has signed him he can't throw, he had one workout recently, they intentionally did it over 2 days, first day he was fine, second day couldn't throw.

Shoulder AND elbow I think.

No way you bring in a QB with a chronic "busted wing" IMO.

Ramsey is an interesting possibility. But, he's a bit of a gamble based on his career so far. Not really sold but kind of intrigued...

Correct.

Ramsey did not whine when Gibbs signed Brunell, it was Ramsey's agent. Ramsey has escalators in his contract for playing time, so when it looked like Ramsey wasn't going to play, his agent demanded a trade.

Oh, man! Does this mean that if we get rid of King and sign Ramsey you'll still be here because Ramsey is from Tulane? Fergit it--lets go after Rob johnson. I hear his groupies are at least hot.

Yep, that's what it said in the article I read, that his contract is terrible, unless he gets incentives he's vastly underpaid, and if he's not playing, he's not getting incentives.

Not a high % guy but the arm is definitely top notch.

A legend? Maybe to you 25,000 people that attended Tulane games. Matt Mauck is more of a Louisiana college football legend than Shaun King. Give me a break.
