A legend? Maybe to you 25,000 people that attended Tulane games. Matt Mauck is more of a Louisiana college football legend than Shaun King. Give me a break.

I keep reading King wants to be mayor of St Petersburg florida, apparently he's quite the politically savvy guy and quite a popular guy. Has done a lot of work with innercity kids and stuff like that in the area.

He was teh QB at Tulane when the football program turned around so he probably is quite popular there.

I'd love for him to take our job and never give it up, one less position to fill.

I'm quite serious. King was a college football legend in Louisiana, and when you follow a legend it always hard. Ramsey had to hear for years about how he didn't match up to what King did.

No one ever wants to follow a legend, especially a coach or quarterback.

OMG. You are Shaun King, aren't you? You have to be. No one I know would ever use Shaun King and "legend" in the same thought.

How about this: "If King throws 3 more picks in a blowout loss on Sunday, I'll jump off my rooftop ledge end."

Ramsey took a pounding last year and he has thrown a lot of picks, but he does has a great arm. Don't throw him in the scrap heap yet, he is unhappy in Washington and a move to the desert is not such a remote possibility.

I'm still on the "get David Gerrard" bandwagon.

Except nobody gives a crap about Tulane football in Louisiana, which is why the "legend" status clearly does not apply.

Or the proverbial legend in his own mind.

I know nothing about football in Louisiana, but I have read King is considered the best QB ever at Tulane. Which of course has nothing to do with NFL potential.

Let's hope he pans out.

Was watching ESPN this morning and they were talking about Gibbs. Apparently he's there at least one more year, and despite FINALLY going to Ramsey, the feeling is he's not Gibbs guy and he probably won't be back. They seemed to be implying that Gibbs is basically showcasing him for a trade.

Ramsey signed a 5 year 5.7 million deal, he's in year 3 so he'll have 2 years left. he was the QB taken BEFORE Josh, not great numbers so far but has played with 2 horrible OL's and last year had 14 TD 9 picks and was literally beaten to death by Spurrier's insistence on running his system with no QB protection. This year he has 2 TD 6 INT and finally got the job and a week to prepare last week and played "decent".

-------------------------------------

In other news, it's reported that Gibbs has an interest in Josh McCown, if he's available... McCown who had 6TDs and 4 Int. in limited play "was literally beaten to death by Dennis Green's insistence on running his system" with an O-line of vituall rookies.

The Cards starters on the OL included: Leonard Davis in his first year at left tackle, rookie guards and centre - and LJ Shelton who moved to right tackle adter playing LT throughout his career. McCown also had to deal with the absence of Anquan Boldin their star reciever for the first 4 games of the season and the learning curve of Larry Fitzgerald the team's first round pick.

Gibb's believes that McCown given a fair opportunity to run an offense behind a competent offensive line will come into his own.

oh. Bummer. I thought it was legit.

On the plus side, that's a good bit of journalistic writing you've done there.

Interesting, I found this article this morning on him that would seem to imply that Gibbs really liked the way he handled the benching.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A55314-2004Nov16.html

Also says the fans love him, were chanting for him weeks in a row. Also says his teammates love him because they respect him for taking that beating last year and NOT complaining.

In fact if I'd read that article before posting, I probably would have never posted, from that article you sure don't get the idea Gibbs doesn't like him.

I just think he has the arm Green looks for, a nice contract, and an upside. He's having a bad year to date that's for sure.
It's hilarious that you guys think that Saint Joe will let Ramsey go.... and what, I guess Brunell is our answer?? Please, it's no wonder you got kicked out of the NFC East. And by the way...Ramsey's brother is a regular poster on our fan site, and Patrick is very happy with Washington and will be our starter for years to come. Dan Snyder may have screwed our team up before Coach Gibbs came back, but who do you think is REALLY in charge now??? The Danny only writes the checks now!!!!

We didn't get kicked out, we were released early on good behavior.

...or, maybe it simply didn't make sense for a team that is in Arizona (a state which many consider in the West) to be in an Eastern conference.

Yes, all hail the 3-7 Redskins. IIRC, we were in the playoffs in 1998. When were you guys last there?

They also said Joe hated Portis and thought Samuels was overrated, can we have them too?

Thanks for the post, like I said, ESPN was reporting it, based on that story it doesn't sound like Gibbs is nearly as down on Ramsey as they were suggesting. They were basically discussing how long Gibbs would be there, they felt if they don't make the playoffs next year, Gibbs will quit, and that's why he may feel he needs a more seasoned QB than Ramsey who he had to be dragged kicking and screaming to play.

Good luck with Gibbs. If you're lucky he'll simply bow out after another year.
Portis "hitting the holes too fast" is one of the funniest things I've ever heard to describe futility on offense.

The Redskins will pay out the nose (read: picks and money) for Brees, and then they'll dump Ramsey on some other team.

They have a history of paying top-dollar for "established" players. I don't think they'll risk going into next season with a big questionmark at QB. They're cap situation won't allow them to do so.

CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) and Peter Jenning's, a fellow Canuck and family friend, was kind of proud... :D
