Is Ron Artest an option?

I know at first everyone will say "No", but think about it. Artest has been a hothead on the court and it could cause problems, but i've never heard of him being a big cancer in the locker room, Plus hes trying to improve himself.

His teammates don't seem to have a problem with him, and he is stud defender(which we need badly), plus he fits in with our style cause hes athletic and can run with us and would'nt slow down our High Energy offense.

If Indy put him on the block, would we be interested?

I was thinking Q.Richardson and the #21 pick for Artest and #46?

Maybe even throw in a future first or Vujanic if the Pacers wanted more.

RealGM Trade Checker says Richardson for Artest works.

This way we don't have to spend any money on a draft selection and put that money towards Hunter or another FA. (Anyone that can help right away)

This brings some balance to our team

Artest and Johnson would hide Nash's defensive shortcomings and shutdown the other teams top backcourt threats.

With Artest and Johnson, you have two guys that can guard SG's,SF's and alot of the point guards in the NBA today.Meaning we can allow Nash to defend the other teams worst offensive player out of 3 positions like we did in the playoffs vs the Spurs when Johnson cameback and Nash guarded Bowen a few times.But this time it would work better since Artest is way better than Q on defense and guys like Ginobili would'nt eat him alive.


Yes its possible that he can cause problems in the locker room, but you can say that about any additions to any team (Hell even Marion looks like he can become a problem down the road), So i think it would be worth the risk.

i can some up with a couple smartass answers but let just say that artest wouldnt fit with the suns. the suns are long been one of teams in the nba that if you are a person with drug or legal problems you can count yourself out of being a member of that team. and no matter what he brings to the court he take more away in what he does off it or thing that are not basketball related.

Because Artest is so talented and yet so problematic, there would probably be a lot more interest from some teams than others if Indiana offered to move him. A team like Phoenix, which already has a strong identity and prides itself on good chemistry, would probably be pretty low on the list of interested teams. If Phil Jackson returns to the Lakers, I could see them put up a strong offer for him. And there's always the Knicks, although Artest's contract might be too reasonable for Thomas to want him badly.

I think Phil would have a breakdown coaching Kobe + Artest. Imagine if they signed Rodman too.

Artest might be the best one-on-one defender in the league and, on the court, he would be great for the Suns as far as skill and intensity, but they would not sign him as long as the Colangelos are making decisions.

If Indy wants to dump him (which they prob don't) I could see Portland trying to send Miles or Andersen or something. The Knicks would probably want in, too.

I can't imagine why Indianna would trade him. They put up with the worst of him and stuck by him. Trading him now would be pretty silly from their standpoint. At this point, I'm pretty sure he's worth more than what anyone would offer him.

While Artest is intriguing, the only way to get him, is if you don't give up much. The risk is just too high. One more big outburst from Artest and you could be looking at a multiple season suspension.

He's certainly not work Q--to us.

Ron Artest is a very good player, but there is a chance in hell that the Phoenix Suns would trade for him. This is not the type of team that would want to deal with the headaches.

Ron Artest on the Lakers would be interesting. I wonder how many times he would beat the hell out of Kobe Bryant.

I'm of the mindset that no major tinkering should be done this summer. Next season if we're bounced and Nash's window again becomes smaller, then you put your balls out there and make a major splash.

Can you imagine Artest on the Lakers? David Stern would piss himself in excitement.
