Well said FDog, the lane has to be open for Nash to operate. If there was player trying to post up it would cut down on Nash's effectiveness. How many times does he go to the goal and just looks for options, in a sense he is our low post presence.
If the Suns want to prolong Nash's career, they are going to have to become more and more reliant on a half-court offense when the fast-break is not readily available. The Suns, as evidenced with San Antonio, cannot survive with Q and Marion trying to get shots off against a quality team they cannot outrun.
If the Suns wanted a big man shooting 3's as our PF, as F-Dog suggests, then the Suns just might as well draft another Zarko clone with a stronger work ethic.
I think unless the Suns can draft another Larry Nance type player for a big, the Suns will eventually need to evolve into an offense run by Utah when they had Malone and Stockton (which isn't bad). It will probably not happen next year but I see it on the horizon.
Except for a missing piece or two, Utah was an excellent team for many years. I beleve Nash will evolve more and more into a John Stockton type of player relying upon his intelligence and passing ability to get the job done.
