...that you used to love as a kid and you recently watched it as an adult and can't believe how incredibly stupid it is?

This just happened to me this weekend with that classic John Cusak flick, "Better off Dead" I used to love that movie.

Add to this list: "Adventures in Babysitting", "Teen Wolf", "Teen Wolf II, "Back to School" :)thumbup: This is still sort of funny) and "License to Drive" (how about ANY Corey Haim or Corey Feldman movie)

Geeze, I could go on and on

I used to like Top Gun, but now realize is VERY GAY.

Nah, I like Top Gun. Great 80's movie even if it is really really gay.

ROTFL

It is funny how you get a crush on a girl/woman in the movies when you're younger, then scratch your head wondering what you were thinking when you see it years later. :D

Okay, this isn't a movie, but I used to love the Smurfs cartoon as a kid...I saw an episode like 4 months ago, and I couldn't believe how stupid it seemed.

Yeah, I used to watch the Smurfs everyday on Cartoooooon Express. I also recently tried to rationalize the Smurfs living environment with my now adult brain. There was one woman in the whole village? Ummmm....how did that work? Where did the little baby show up from? Plus, they are little blue men who live in mushrooms and this crazy cooky old hunch back is always trying to catch them and eat them.....drug enduced paranoya if you ask me

Ever since I meet my wife - well, anyone for that matter - I talked up a movie made in the mid-70's (1976 to be exact). I saw it in the theater and just fell in love with it. It was called Bugsy Malone.

I thought this movie was the bees-knees and I talked it up real good. I found it on VHS about 3 years ago - so I ordered it online. As soon as it came in the mail I was giddy. I sat the wife down and made her watch it with me - ugh, what a mistake. What the heck was I thinking - that's the stupidest, awful movie. I must of had brain-damage as a kid because it was just terrible.

My wife had that look on her face that said "That's an hour and a half of my life I'll never get back, and it's all your fault". So I try to be careful with my nostalgia now.

I don't know about movies...

But watching Voltron as an adult is about the most mind numbing thing this side of Yugi Oh! (which is the worst cartoon ever created)

Too funny. I loved that movie as a kid. I actually saw it multiple times in a summer movie program at Los Arcos Mall. They used to have a different movie every week during the summer and kids could see about 10 movies for $5. Jason and the Argonauts, Benji movies, Disney movies, Pippi Longstocking, etc. - and Bugsy Malone. All in the downstairs movie theater at Los Arcos (RIP).

Bugsy Malone: Scott Baio, Jodie Foster, and even Michael Jackson. :biglaugh:

Another one that was better when you saw it years ago...

RED DAWN (1984) - I talked and talked about this movie, where some high schoolers in a small town fight off some Russian invaders, until my wife finally rented it for us. Now she'll never let me live it down...

Yep - that's another one.

Also, from the same year, there was The Last Starfighter. That movie was so cool when I was a kid - now, not so cool. :)

Get it right - The Last Starfighter. :D

I loved that movie and had a crush on the actress with the great eyes, Catherine Mary Stewart. Saw her 3 years later at the premiere of the movie Dudes at the Scottsdale UA 5 theaters. All the fans were crowding Jon Cryer, who was big at the time, leaving me and a few other fans to chat with CMS. She was really friendly and down-to-earth. Great night.

Well, I've never actually heard of a "hookie" story. "Hokie", yes. "Hookie", no. :D

It was the 80s--there were very little "non-hokie" stories in those 10 years. That was always a part of their charm.
