is it even possible anymore?

everyone knows he's going to kill it, and he'll do it right away. i don't even think all 3 picks + marion would make it happen anymore...

He's a lock at 1 or 2, depending on whose drafting

i have watched him all year and i think he has serious all around game. i mean the scoring is one thing but the rebounding and blocking are crazy. AND HE IS ONLY A FRESHMAN. can you imagine what he would look like after a few weight training sessions and some coaching by the suns staff? MARION AND OUR FIRST ROUNDER THANK YOU.

well you are going to have to give up a steve nash or a amare.......either way you look at it. durant is a rare commodity.
However their is no reason for the suns to do such.

i feel you on nash or amare. they should not be touched but i was hoping something not quite outrageous could be swung for him. you are right, he is a rare commodity. i just cant see him not succeeding in the league and immediately.

Durant is a mortal lock for the second overall pick. No way anyone gives that up.

Not this year because rumor has it he is going back to UT next year according to teammates.

Ive heard this too, but when everyone starts telling him about the money he's going to make- who knows, he'll probably come out. However, if he does decide to wait a year, he'll almost certainly go #1 next year.

However, Suns fans should be hoping for him and Oden to come out this year, because it pushes better talent down the ladder to the Suns (who will hopefully have a top 10 pick).

There is zero chance Durant falls any further than #2.

My feeling is that if it's Boston, Durant goes #1 but if it's Memphis, Oden is #1 because he'd fit their needs better (baring a trade of Gasol).

here's hoping both Durant and Oden decide to stay at college another year, Atlanta get a top 3 pick this year and somehow manage to suck again (hey, they are atlanta), so we get their unprotected pick next year. which would hopefully be top 2.

fortunately, dreams are free.

I think that Oden will be number one in both cases. Al Jefferson is probably more suited to play PF, and Durant will be a SF when he gets to the NBA. So unless the C's trade Pierce this offseason, I don't see them drafting Durant. The only team that has a decent chance to draft Durant number one is Milwaukee, and even then if I were the GM, I'd take Oden.

Way too many "ifs".

Even though there is a drop after Durant and Oden, the reality is that the Hawks are only one good player (and some health) from being an Eastern Conference playoff team.

Oh man, that would be tough for Milwaukee. Do you want Bogut-Villanueva-Durant-Redd or Bogut-Oden-Villanueva-Redd. I guess it depends on if they think Charlie V can be more of a SF and if either Oden or Bogut could be a PF. If they did take Oden, they'd be pretty large up front and tough to handle. They also really need a point guard.

I think that it's a no-brainer for Boston, Atlanta, Memphis, Seattle, Charlotte, etc. to pick Oden, but as you said Milwaukee is definitely a wild card. Personally, I'm not really sold on Bogut, so I'd go for Oden and try to deal Bogut. But I could easily see them going the other way.

In a deep draft.... with truly crappy teams making the first two picks..... Why wouldn't someone like 3 picks instead of 1? I would try to give up all three (and also our 2nd rounder making 4) for the second pick.

Why wouldn't Danny Ainge do this? (well, atleast think about it) We arent in the same division, and he has Pierce, Jefferson, & Green moving forward into the future.

I think there is a reasonable chance Durant goes #1. He is having an absolutely dominating season with a lot less support than Oden. His stats are:

25.1 ppg

48.5% shooting
42.9% for three (on 5.7 attempts per game)
80.1% from the line

11.4 rpg
1.8 blocks per game
1.8 steals per game

At 6'10" 225 he's a bit small for center (except on the Suns), but he's only 19 and should get bigger. Like KG, he's capable of playing three positions.

On the Celtics with wide bodies like Jefferson and Perkins, Oden would not have the same impact as Durant. On Memphis, their lack of defense and rebounding would all but compell taking Oden.

The debate over who goes number one will depend on what each player does during the tournament. I still believe it would be too hard for a team to pass on Oden

Because one superstar is worth a lot more than three role players, particularly if you are a truly crappy team.

I think this is almost always the case. Teams give up on superstars only when the player forces a deal and the team takes the best they can get.

Obviously the definition of who is or is not a "superstar" creates some problems. There were a fair number of people who thought Marbury was a superstar. Still, it is rare for teams to move a superstar (or someone projected that way in the draft) for second and third tier players.
