Is this a dream draft? Am I hallucinating?

I honestly have to say that if I was the GM, the first four picks would have looked exactly the same. I couldn't have hoped for a better crop that Leinart, Lutui, Pope, and Watson.

Green has made the best possible move in every round. No guessing, no funny business.

Someone else said it best when they referred to this as some kind of "Bizarro Cardinal World". The kind of world where we are the team that signs the premier free agent and drafts a Heisman winner.

After so many years of poor talent and draft debacles, it's hard to look at draft picks as "depth/potential" instead of "immediate starters". IMO, Watson is a perfect example of what our 4th round pick should be. A guy that has the talent to be a starter, but may end up being only a rotational/depth player. It's amazing what a few years of injecting talent into a team can do.

Predraft I would have said that only Lutui could have been had where he was takes so yeah, it's going really really well.

Yeah, the draft has been much funner ever since Green has made the picks. Instead of wondering, "Who is that? Why did we take him that high?", we're selecting guys who were big time in college.

After ESPN's cvoerage ended last night, I fired up the Tivo and watched the first 10 picks of the draft, just for the heck of it.

As the Cards pick got closer, it almost felt like someone else was going to take him. Even though I knew we got Leinart, I still had to see it for myself. Almost like pinching yourself to make sure you aren't dreaming.

Love Leinart, Pope, and Watson, but I'm disappointed in the Luitui pick. Deuce is fine, I guess, but it seems like when all the LBs started flying off the board, I just kept feeling sicker and sicker. I understand he's a good kid, but everything I've read on him says that there's a weight problem. Maybe it'll be better once we seen what kind of OL system we're running, but this guy might have a problem on a lot of pull blocks.

Watson might not work out, but it's a 4th rounder for god's sake. What's a 4th rounder? That's not exactly a big risk.

Consider our past 4th rounders - the Joel Makovickas and Nate Dwyers of the world - and I'd much rather roll the dice on someone like Watson than a nobody or someone with almost no upside.

Watson was projected to go early to mid 2nd round. We got a steal with that pick. I'm sure Denny can motivate him. and he'll be the run stopping tackle we've been looking for.
