is Vaccaro steering John Wall into this years draft?

Apologies if this has been reported already. Chad Ford reported it first but SI and now Andy Katz of ESPN have confirmed that Wall is making inquiries to the NBA to see if he's draft eligible this season.

Wall is a 5th year senior at Word of God Academy and many call him a bigger, not as strong Derrick Rose(very athletic kid, off the charts speed and hops). he's already 19 so the claim is his graduating class was 2008 so he will be draft eligible now, he just needs word from the NBA that they agree.

Wall is being recruited by everyone, Baylor hired his AAU coach, Memphis appeared to have him until Calipari left, Worldwide Wes is involved, Cal wants him at kentucky, Kansas wants him, Duke and UNC are trying to get involved and now even UCLA and others are contacting him(UCLA in case Holiday stays in the draft).

Vaccaro was quoted in todays paper about the situation which tells me Vaccaro is probably the one pushing him to look into the NBA.

Some claim he's a lock top 10 pick this year could even go as high as 2nd overall.

Anything that increases the lottery depth in this years draft is a good thing for Phoenix. I'm a fan of BPA draft style so if for some unknown reason the NBA actually agrees to this then it's better than a kick in the junk.

Wall, Jennings and Rubio are 3 PGs that could make a case for themselves being better PG prospects than last years #1 pick Derek Rose.

It's really tough to decide between these three, all have potential and superstar personality.

I must have missed the moment that having a personality and highly marketable player like Wade, Kobe, Lebron etc turned into a bad thing.

Pretty sure he is not eligible for the draft. I think the rule states that he has to be one year removed from high school to be eligible.

Don't feel badly. You don't mind it and I do. You said "superstar personality" and that is exactly the thing I hate about those three guys you named.

I'd like to know what makes you think Brandon Jennings is a superstar in the making.

Actually the rule specifically states one year has to have passed from your HS graduating class and Wall's class was 2008. I'm pretty sure if push came to shove he could get his way into the draft.

I honestly haven't seen much of Wall aside from youtube clips, but from what I've seen he is nowhere near as explosive as Rose and Jennings seems to be more of an AI guard than a real point guard. Rubio is the only PG in this years draft I'd take over Rose.

Since when did Wade and Kobe become great personalities? It's their ability that has made them marketable.

It's debatable but the rule states that if the player did not graduate he's eligible one year after what would have been his graduating class. Wall is a 5th year senior so his class graduated in 08 not 09.

It's moot though he's apparently decided to go to college.

Looks like Wall will not be entering the draft this year. Also, appears U of A is trying to get in the sweerpstakes.

Interesting article because it says he's not a post graduate in prepschool but it doesn't say he's not a 5th year senior. My understanding is that's the key, 5th year seniors "should" have graduated already so their graduating class is their 4th year with respect to the NBA rule.

As for UA getting involved, I think everyone is asking just to find out. My understanding is UCLA called and pretty quickly backed off when they were informed he doesn't have a qualifying test score yet. I've seen elsewhere that he does have a test score but I read on a UCLA board that he doesn't and as soon as that was made known to UCLA they backed away. It's pretty late in the game to not have a qualifying score, hell it's Brandon Jennings late so it's a bit surprising UA is interested if the test score stuff is true.

Glad he's apparently going to college although he's cleary a one and done.
