Isa Torres fell a triple short of the cycle as her two RBI night helped lead No. 8 Florida State softball to a 6-1 win over NC State on Friday.
The Seminoles (31-5) have won 11 straight and are a perfect 7-0 in conference play after the win in the series opener.
Torres hit her seventh home run and eighth double of the season in the victory to extend her hit streak to six games. Jahni Kerr went 2-for-3 to extend her hit streak to 10 games.
Annabelle Widra threw five innings and allowed just one run and four hits to go with her two strikeouts on the mound. She was replaced by Jazzy Francik in the sixth inning, who threw two scoreless innings and allowed just one hit.
FSU saw 15 pitches before blowing the game open with a Micahle Edenfield two-RBI double in the bottom of the first. She wasn't on base long, however, as Katie Dack hit an RBI single on the next pitch to drive her in and give FSU a 3-0 advantage.
Torres crushed a two-run home run in the second inning to give FSU a 5-0 advantage. She sent a strike over the center-field fence for the no-doubt shot.
It would be a relatively quiet game after the Torres home run as both teams were scoreless until the sixth inning.
NC State led off the top half of the inning with a solo home run from Michele Tarpey, which led to the change to bring Francik to the mound for Widra.
She recorded three consecutive outs to end the inning. FSU scored a run in the bottom of the sixth with a Jaysoni Beachum RBI double.
The Seminoles return to the Seminole Softball Complex for a 1 p.m. first pitch on Saturday against the Wolfpack.
