It is hard to dislike Joey Harrington

FischInMich asked for impressions of the Lions fans and their stadium in another thread. I told him that everything was pretty cool in that regard, but the thing that impressed me the most about the Lions was not a stadium or its fans, but rather their QB Joey Harrington.

I am obviously a huge Cardinals fan, but I can recognize and appreciate good players in the league. However, when I find a good player that carries himself well, I feel the need to speak on it.

Joey Harrington has everything I like in a player. He loves the game. He plays hard and with great emotion. He has great pocket presence and he is a leader. Plus, he has a cannon and uses it well. He does a great job of seeing the whole field.

Another thing that makes Joey a likeable guy is when he motioned to the Lions crowd to stop their immature chant of "Bull ****...Bull ****." This happend when the referee, Bill Corollo, announced that you can't advance a muffed punt. I am not singling out the Lions fans for this because it happens everywhere including Arizona, but it happened today at Ford Field and it is fresh in my memory. Joey realizes that there are many youngsters in the crowd and that they don't need to be hearing that garbage.

I know it is a small thing, but it made me take notice.

I guess if the football fans are retards, I guess you are right. Thats why in todays day and age you cant take kids or nice folks cant attend games. The human gene pool is so watered-down that this is the result. Remember in the 30's 40's 50's when people wore their finest to the games and behaved.

I blame it all on public safety. Too much public safety allows morons to live and breed.

I was at the game as well and have to say I appreciated his enthusiams as well but lets be honest Jim. We were so bad on defense, we made him look like an all pro. If we had any pass rush at all we would have won that game going away. Nothing is going to change about this team until we get one. But no one knew that before yesterday, now, did they?

He/we know that, Jim was just saying that he was impressed with Harrington's attitude. Heck I say far worse than that.

Our defense wasn't that bad our special teams were. You cannot cover short fields all day and expect to not get scored on. We do not feature a defense as our strong side of the ball our offense is supposed to be you cannot have both with a salary cap at least more than one season.

Granted I want more of a pass rush too but I rewatched the game and sometimes there was good pressure Harrington has a really fast release and they used 3 step drops all day it wasn't as bad as you are making it out to be.

Amazing.

What I find amazing is there are still Lions fans who want Joey on the bench in favor of McMahon. Amazing isn't it? I think Harrington has most of the tools to be a better than average starting Q.B. in the NFL and many fans wanted us to trade him to Cleveland for Tim Couch. Lions fan's favorite player is always the back up QB, that needs to change.

I agree with Jim. Joey Harrington showed Lions fans a glimpse of the future. I love what this kid brings to the table. Sure we didn't get much pressure on him but he still had to make the throws. All of his passes were on target and where they needed to be. Plus he didn't throw any INTs. What more can you ask from your QB?

It's not like he had any support from his running game or several huge names to throw to. Harrington will be a star in a couple of years.

Harrington reminds me alot of Brett Farve, and the two areas that this really shows is his confidence and his feet. When he moves around the pocket, his feet look like they are going a hundred miles an hour, but he really is just staying on his toes so he can move easier. Brett Favre does the exact same thing, and that's why it always looks like these two have happy feet in the pocket.
