I guess, then, those who have accepted the Cards fate should not bother watching and thus have no reason to post the stupid ass "I hope they lose so we get #1 overall" drivel. Complete nonsense.

I will watch Sunday and root like hell for the Cards to win because I never...EVER...want my team (and yes I consider myself enough of a Cards fan to call them my team) to lose. I could give a **** about getting Leinart. I have seen enough of this losing...and losing to crappy teams like the Lions. I am sick of it and want them to win a helluv-alot more than I want them to get the #1 overall pick to draft a guy who isn't a sure thing (because no player drafted is a sure thing).

Gimme wins, man. Gimme wins starting Sunday and let the picks fall where they may.

it's the forever story of the shortsighted verses the hopeful.

those of us that consider ourselves in the hopeful camp see you as being shortsighted. you want to win every game, even if the writing is on the wall. and that usually results in 2 or 3 more victories which only downgrades our draft position and likelihood of getting a better player (yes, the draft is a crapshoot, but you're shooting at better crap the higher your pick . . . at least that's the ENTIRE THEORY BEHIND THE DRAFT).

those of us in the hopeful camp see a season in ruins already and want to win, but we want to win big. we don't want 2 or 3 more victories this season. we accept the losing now for the promise of a possible (mind you i said POSSIBLE) greater payday in the future. the losses today form the basis for a better draft pick, which, if wielded correctly, should result in more wins in the future.

it's like my current employer . . . they've tighted our belts this year and made some controversial changes that cost the company money in this fiscal year. but it was with an eye to the future that the changes were made. even next fiscal year the company is expected to experience revenue issues as a result of the changes, but the changes were made with the notion of MUCH larger profits in the following two to ten years. sacrifice a bit now for a greater future.

so go ahead and root for those 2 to 3 more victories the cards may rack up this year. i'd prefer to forego those 2 or 3 wins for a shot at leinart and possibility of him developing into the greatest qb this franchise has ever seen, taking the team on his back and leading them to the playoffs. yes, i'm a darksider, but my darkside is borne from glittering mindless insanity-er-hope of a greater future.

First overall pick?!?!? Leinhart?!?! What good is he going to do for this team?

Our QB's numbers aren't THAT bad this year. Getting a 'franchise QB' is going to mean nothing if the team still can't run the ball. No single draft pick is going to fill all the holes on this team. Well, maybe if there were a Barry Sanders, Jim Brown, or even a Jerome Bettis coming out of college this year. Some guy who could break tackles in the backfield or blow open his own holes in the DLine.

If this team loses out and blows its pick on a QB we are going to have as much fun as Texan and Lions fans over the next few years.

I don't thik anyone one is advocating stopping our off-season "improvements" at drafting Lienart; nor do I think anyone is saying a run game isn't important.

We can improve the line significantly in FA and the rest of the draft, but we shouldn't ignore a more long-term solution at QB just because we have holes elsewhere.

Nah. Just another guy sick and tired of seeing the Cards are STILL at least 5-6 players away from being real playoff contenders.
Sadly there is no quick fix that is going to make next year much better than this year. Another year of waiting for the new offensive and defensive players to gel. No way any one rookie (no matter how high he's drafted) is going to move this team into play-off contention.

Maybe the defense gets itsself straightened out with the people recovering from injuries and all the team has to do is get a 2-3 OLinemen who can actually run block.

i agree with that, but you don't pass up a franchise QB just to fill holes

I suppose you are right. If they do get a top one or two pick and a franchise QB is there they better take it. One less hole to worry about for the next few years.
Maybe they can pick up a couple solid guard/center types in FA next year too so long as we are dreaming big dreams.

Take the Blue Pill (Nexium) and you will be better. This drug should be prescribed for all Cardinal fans.

If this team has a shot at Leinhart and fails to take him I think there would be a revolution of what few fans we have. I do not think the Bidwills would even balk on taking him as he is likely to put people in the seats. How many years can you go without drafting a top QB prospect. The Bengals,Atlanta,Colts, New England, Giants did not trade for those QB's they got them in the draft. Four of them were the first pick. Seems like there is message there. No, he would not put us in the playoffs his first year but QB remains the most important position on a team and is the conerstone of great teams.
