He has been exceptional lately at getting mediocre players some high numbers but it's crunch time now. The season is on the line and you just have to WIN period from here on out, so it's time to put those incredible %'s to work and SHOOT THE BALL.

But isn't this really up to the coaching staff to decide? If Gentry asked Nash to shoot more, I'm guessing he would shoot more.

Nash will take what the defense gives him. If they leave him open, he'll shoot. If they play him tight and leave someone else, he will find them.

I agree Nash takes what the defense gives him, BUT this year his attempts are among the lowest in years. He can make an effort to put up more shots. A lot of times when there is 3 minutes or so left in a game and the Suns are down by 4 0r 5 he will score two or three buckets in a row seemingly with ease, and I'm just like "Don't wait until it's to late."

Only 6 attempts last night, that's pathetic at this stage of the season for a two time MVP. It is incredibly frustrating.

I would probably agree with this if I wasn't watching the games and watching him pass up shot after shot. Often times he has open shots in the middle of the lane but instead tries to pass out to teammates. He doesn't need to become Westbrook, but he does need to take what the defense gives him and occasionally create shots for himself.

I think he Steve probably knows he's got energy for one or the other now... he either burns it distributing or he shoots the rock. He's become a one-dimensional player on offense... which is another reason we should let him move on and let this era end.

He is perfectly capable of getting more than 6 shots up. For the last two months its almost like he is purposely trying NOT to shoot. When you are by far the best shooter on the team, you need to shoot. He could probably average 20 a night if he wanted but I'm not saying do that, just get more than 6 or 8 attempts a game.

shooting expounds energy and it takes energy. Something that a 38 year old, hurting PG just doesn't have a stockpile of. And there's no way in hell Nash coul average 20 ppg even if he wanted to or just focused on doing so.

and bottom line... people have been saying this for the last three years. It's time to just accept what Steve Nash does in the second half of seasons, which is wear and break down.

If he was just going out there to get points and not trying to get assists he could easily average over 20. A healthy Steve Nash could have put up 20 ppg for a good stretch of his career if he wanted to. That wouldn't make him the Nash everyone knows as an assist man/floor general but there's no doubt he could do it. I'm not saying he should do that all I'm saying is put up 10 or 12 shots instead of 4.

I think you might be missing the point. For much of his career he did just what you're asking him to do now. Why do you think he suddenly stopped doing it? He's made a few remarks over the past couple years that shooting can be painful when his back/hip are acting up and my guess is that he's avoiding jumping as much as possible so he can continue to play. I think we're stuck with this version of Nash although I'm hoping that he'll throw caution to the wind as the season closes.

Yep, that's what it seems like to me as well.

I sincerely believe his hip is giving him trouble but supposedly that injury happened in the Memphis game. He hasn't been putting up many shots for the last two months. If he can't finish a season out even though he is always commended on what incredible shape he is in then I don't know about a 3 year deal. His numbers are still out of this world as far as shooting percentages and assists go though.

I agree his hip is bothing him. Not much side to side movement, mostly just straight ahead, and he is not looking to get to the basket.
