At the rate the cap has been going up this deal isn't going to seem all that expensive in a few more years.

It's pretty much the same deal the Niners gave to Torrey Smith (5 yr/$40 million/$22 million gtd). Personally, I would much rather have Iupati for that kind of money.

If it helps the Cards get the o-line rushing average up it will be worth every penny. I for one have seen quite enough of the interior of the line collapsing into the RB or QB.

Trent Cole just got 8m per year from the colts - so 6m a year for Orakpo would be cheap, pass rushers are expensive

I am thinking at this point we can afford AP and cromartie, or cromartie and Orakpo

I'll take AP and Orakpo for the daily double.

I think we're overpaying a bit here but I trust this front office. I sure hope they know what they're doing.

It's really not an exaggeration to say you could consider him the best run blocking guard in the NFL. NFL.com ranked him as the #4 overall free agent on the market and the #1 offensive lineman.

So yeah we just spent slot of money but it went towards our offensive line. Remember just a few years ago how bad our line was and under Keim we now have a YOUNG pro bowl caliber left tackle and a YOUNG 3x pro bowl guard to anchor this line for a long time. I feel much better now.

Now I hope and I pray that Cooper can come around. Remember this kid was like the highest rated guard to come out in like 20 years he has the talent were gonna find out if he has the toughness and mental make up to get the job done.

I really like Massie he's a very solid YOUNG right tackle and I honestly think he's only going to get better.

I like it

Can't really complain about spending money on the oline can you? Seriously it's sucked for along time and bask are fixing a major issue we have all complained about for years... I love it!

Agreed. Though this organization has a history of investing in the wrong guys. I have hope this one works out.

A lot of money for a guard. First signing that I have seen from Keim that was too much. Maybe it's payback for the 49ers signing Dockett.

I'm thrilled we acquired Iupati and even though the price is steep I don't care. I trust SK and Disner enough that I'm not concerned about the CAP.

Oline positions that are in great shape:
LT & LG are set. Cooper or Iupati will man that spot.
RT is in very good shape with Massie.

If Iupati is the LG starter then Cooper is in play for OC.
If Iupati is the RG then Cooper is the LG starter.
Larsen played very well at RG and could compete for starting at OC.

If Cooper can't win a starting position then that's a bust of a pick.

This Oline will be very good to great.

we didn't pay too much....and of course iupati got more than Veldheer...
iupati is an established veteran pro bowl guard with a super bowl ring.......

Veldheer at the time was a fourth round pick just coming in to his own at the end of his rookie contract....but he had not had a great season yet nor proven anything.....Veldheer has played better for us than he ever did for the raiders,...which is why we grabbed him...

on Iupati....the saints pay 7.2 mil for one guard and 8.1 mil for the other....while he may be WELL paid...we did not over pay...for an experienced pro bowl caliber guard in the prime of his career...
