Wide receiver is a position that the Jacksonville Jaguars will have to add to in this year's NFL draft. So, what does head coach Liam Coen think of the 2025 class at the receiver position?

“I think there's some good, sound, solid players at a few different spots, where there's always some ball-in-hand athletes. Also, a couple of guys that can win 50/50 balls. There are some really good football players all throughout this draft at the position," Coen said, via Jaguars on SI.

"I wouldn't say it's maybe as sparkling as some other Drafts, right, where you do see there's a couple of good ones up there. We feel good about some of the guys a little bit later on that can contribute for us, definitely a position we'd be looking for.”

At a minimum, after trading Christian Kirk, letting go of Devin Duvernay and Josh Reynolds, along with not re-signing Tim Jones, while only adding Dyami Brown in free agency, depth is a need here.

But more importantly, although the passing game will run through Brian Thomas Jr., as Coen described recently, spreading the ball around is going to be an important element as well. And while there are candidates on the roster already in Parker Washington and Brown who can step into those WR2 and WR3 roles, their presence on the roster shouldn't stop the Jaguars from adding more competition either.

In addition to all of that, looking ahead to 2026, Brown is a free agent, Washington will be in the final year of his deal, and Gabe Davis could be a cut candidate at that point.

With the fifth overall pick, value-wise, there probably isn't a selection at that stage of the draft for the Jaguars that makes sense at the wide receiver position. However, on Day 2, particularly at pick 36, could be the sweet spot for the Jaguars when it comes to adding to this position.
