Much to my surprise, Miami actually let him hit the open market. I hope the Cards make a play for him. I have not been an advocate of moving Levi Brown to guard, or do I know if he can play OG, but for a guy like Long, I would move Levi. The Cards could turn their OL into a strength rather quickly by signing Long and drafting Warmack. An OL of Long, Brown, Sendlein/Snyder, Warmack, and Massie would be, on paper, as good as the Cards have had in years.
The Cards can afford him and can structure the contract to make it work cap-wise. If Joe Flacco just signed a $120 mill contract that only counts as a 6.9 mill cap hit this year, the Cards can find a way to fit Long under the cap as well. Heck, re-structuring, or releasing, Rhodes and Kolb will make it very easy to sign Long.
All that being said, the Cards, despite Mikey's pre-stadium bravado, have yet to sign any FA's of note and usually only target/sign guys that have little, or no demand on the open market.
