Seriously. Just like Plummer...dig a monster deep hole with boneheaded decisions early in the game, only to flip the switch late and make the game exciting.

*sigh*

You don't win championships like that.

Give Skelton a full offseason - still the best QB the Cards have.

Unfortunately, you're right. Keep developing Skelton, but he's NOT the answer right now.

He hasn't tried to throw one behind his back yet. He's got that going that going for him.

Skelton was horrible for 3 quarters. Absolutely horrible. Where's the 4th quarter magic the other 3?
He's young and still learning. I'm not willing to give up on him yet.

When Skelton takes us to the playoffs and beats Dallas on the road I'll compare him to Jake.

Absolutely.

John Skelton = 1st Round Arm with a 5th Round Brain.

People STILL don't understand. Skelton has had about 3/4 of a season of practice as a 1st string QB, a little more practice time as a 2nd string QB, NO offseason or training camp time as a starter, and almost no offseason or training camp time as a 2nd stringer. And he's from Fordham. And we don't have a competent QB coach. So, yeah, it must be because he doesn't have the brain for the game. It can't POSSIBLY be because he hasn't had a single whiff of a chance to develop yet, can it?

Absolutely agree. The kid went to Fordham, we know he has the intellect. He has to continue to develop. He's a far cry from a finished product. Should be an open competition next year in training camp.

No, John Skelton has first round athletic ability, third round smarts and sixth round instincts...and during a pass rush at the heat of the moment a young player is going to go off of instincts which does not bode well for him.

Wow! All this bending over backward with love for Skelton but no similar understanding for Kolb who never had an off season with us. Losing early in the season was more on the defense.

After the game, I thought that at least we could put to bed all this Skelton talk. Apparently not.

I am not buying that.

The defense played well enough early in the season that we could have won many of those games. Heck, they held Seattle to 13 on the road... How many games did we lose by a total of 8 points? That's not on the defense...

Losing to the giants, ravens ans I would argue skins was squarely on the D.

Giants: Up by 10 on the G-Men with about 5 minutes left. Next time we got the ball - if the offense does anything the Giants are toast. What do we do? IIRC, 3 and out to give them life. Then the defense gets a "fumble" by Victor Cruz. Game should have been over, but the play could not be challenged/overturned because Cruz "gave himself up." Ugh. Still a 4 point game and we had the ball back for the last 2 minutes...and Kolb and the offense couldn't win it in the end.

Ravens: We were up 24-3. 24 to freaking 3 on the road. In the second quarter! Even if the offense just got some field goals the rest of the way we keep it out of reach. Even so - it was tied until a FG by the Ravens as time expired.

Skins: Lost by one. Kolb turned it over on the pass play with Stuckey. All we needed to do was get in FG range to win it.

Losing by 4, 3, and 1 in winnable games is not all on the D. Most of the time if the O did anything the D wouldn't have to even take the field again, but we are great at mishandling leads. We get up by double digits and then - instead of running to waste time...we pass, stop the clock, and give it back to the other team in record time. Example - we have a lead and the ball with 3 minutes left. Amazingly, 48 or 50 seconds later we have gone 3 and out and are punting back to the other team to give them life and a chance to beat us. That's ridiculous. Often the box score/recap will say our opponent scored twice within a 1 1/2 or 2 minute span. That doesn't all fall on the defense. It means the opponent scored...we got the ball and couldn't even get one first down...gave it back to them and then they scored again.

The offense had like 3 drives during the entire Skins game that lasted more than 4 plays. The D held Washington to 22 despite playing 40+ minutes... cant really blame them for that.

And the defense is the only reason the Cards built a lead against Baltimore to begin with, then in the 2nd half the offense was busy going 3 and out and turning the ball over. The D played poorly in the 2nd but the offense completely wet the bed.

Really? How so? How do you prove your intellect when you are making boneheaded throws game after game? He still holds onto the ball way to long if his first read is not there. He isn't running into defenders like Kolb did early in the year, but he's just sitting there waiting for them to come to him instead.

I'd like to see how we 'know' he has intellect.
