Losing to the giants, ravens and I would argue skins was squarely on the D.
Giants: Up by 10 on the G-Men with about 5 minutes left. Next time we got the ball - if the
offense does anything the Giants are toast. What do we do? IIRC, 3 and out to give them life. Then the defense gets a "fumble" by Victor Cruz. Game should have been over, but the play could not be challenged/overturned because Cruz "gave himself up." Ugh. Still a 4 point game and we had the ball back for the last 2 minutes...and Kolb and the offense couldn't win it in the end.
Ravens: We were up 24-3. 24 to freaking 3 on the road. In the second quarter! Even if the offense just got some field goals the rest of the way we keep it out of reach. Even so - it was tied until a FG by the Ravens as time expired.
Skins: Lost by one. Kolb turned it over on the pass play with Stuckey. All we needed to do was get in FG range to win it.
Losing by 4, 3, and 1 in winnable games is not all on the D. Most of the time if the O did anything the D wouldn't have to even take the field again, but we are great at mishandling leads. We get up by double digits and then - instead of running to waste time...we pass, stop the clock, and give it back to the other team in record time. Example - we have a lead and the ball with 3 minutes left. Amazingly, 48 or 50 seconds later we have gone 3 and out and are punting back to the other team to give them life and a chance to beat us. That's ridiculous. Often the box score/recap will say our opponent scored twice within a 1 1/2 or 2 minute span. That doesn't all fall on the defense. It means the opponent scored...we got the ball and couldn't even get
one first down...gave it back to them and then they scored again.
