I know I wasn't. Thought he was going early second. Only two CB's at all even went in the 2nd round all together, which was odd to me.

This draft has been very odd if you go by recent trends. Only 4 Olinemen taken in the 1st (normally there's at least 6), 2 CBs in the 2nd, etc

The kid is not short on confidence at all it would seem. Something I like in my CB's by the way. Got to have confidence and a short memory.

Direct quote per Urban twitter - ""I got a highlight reel just on special teams."

The first Big12 Defensive player taken. The big12 defenses was not very good this year.

No they weren't good at all. Texas ranked 14th in FBS Total Defense. Next highest was OU at 62. 4 teams ranked in the 100s!

The key to remember with all these tackles is that there is a reason they are falling down the draft, even though there are number of teams with a real OL needs including the Cardinals.

Re: Jamell Fleming. I did not think the Cardinals would consider him with us traditionally shying away from guys that have had questionable character issues in the past. A friend of mine, an NFL scout, told me he loves this kid as a cover corner but once he confirmed that the academic issue was that Fleming cheated on a test I thought that would be a turn off for the Cards.

With Floyd yesterday and Fleming today, that trend looks like it may be changing. They certainly arent taking big risks but now you get the feel that the FO is willing to give guys a second chance if they feel the player has matured and is able to demonstrate that through the interviews.

Odd though that with all the mocks and talk about various potential players for the Cardinals on this board his name wasn't mentioned often. Of course that could have been because we were skipping over guys projected for the 2nd round.

I never thought he would be available and believed he would be selected either right before or after Janoris Jenkins

This is what I always thought but then someone (new poster) found an article that showed the Cards have a history of taking chances on players with "flags".

I'll see if I can find it for you.

As others have mentioned Fleming has zero issues with his confidence. It this article he states he will help the team wherever needed, even at DT. When pressed his answer was ....
