Thats not the point. The point is that he sat there and with his own mouth stated he needed to be here and would be here. Hes a hypocrite. Dont like it at all. WOuldnt like it no matter who it was.

You guys kill me with the Its edge so it should be expected and its ok mentallity!

I agree. If you are paying someone $10 million you expect them to go the extra mile, at least I would. Working out on his own, I can see. But for OTA's he needs to be in Arizona, especially the first year. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth, regardless of what Green thinks about it.

VOLUNTARY" adj. - done by choice; done or maintained without payment; controlled by the will.

(for those who seem to fail to understand the meaning of the term...:D )

Yea and f you believe that I have swamp land to sell you in Florida too.

Let another player on the team say a Green, or a Macklin, or a Darling, an Arrington etc..... try that and see what happens. It shouldnt be voluntary just because its Edge.

What I believe is that you've gone overboard on this issue. I made a living for a decade in pro sport and there was always variations on the rules for the super stars... and it was no big deal. When it came time to put out, they were there. We were better for it. Hell, they put money in my pocket!

When I was 16, I was special and some rules were bent for me. At age 21, I was just a number in the program. It's always been that way, and players know it, and adjust. Coaches play favourites, etc. -

NO BIG DEAL!

(and if you think it is, I've got an igloo for sale, that you'll just love.)

And, as it has been well reported, Edge is not sitting on his butt.

This is an issue, only in your mind.

He! Roger Clemmens took off 6 months.

Good one. Maybe Edge should just retire every off season and do a Clemens unretire thing.

he was here at the earlier workouts. My guess is he feels comfortable that he knows the offense and his job well enough that he can skip OTA's, condition on his own, and be fine when he gets to camp. if he's a rookie that's a bad idea, but for a veteran who played in an offense that's VERY similar to what Green runs, I can't say I'm all that worried about it.

It reminds me of that story about Jimmy Johnson cutting a backup lineman in Dallas for falling asleep in a meeting. A reporter asked him, "What if that had been Emmitt Smith?" And Johnson just laughed. Of course, he wouldn't have cut Emmitt, he would've said "Wake up."

i expected it because it is edge afterall. However i cannot say that i like it. The team is currently (or was?) led by nothing but pros who are serious about theyr team. Boldin, fitz, warner, u name them, they show up to every camp because it is what is asked of them. I do understand edge could possibly be in BETTER shape by staying in miami but i dont want to see anyone else decide its not important to come to the workouts. Green was such a hard ass about stuff like this and because edge did it, he cant be a hardass about it anymore. He can cut you if your worried about your job but the guys who will start no matter what could get the wrong ideas.

IMO greens control just dropped a little, he wont lose the team or anything but he cant enforce workouts either. I think by him being a hardass on being together, it has really helped everyone feel more of a team. Teams win superbowls.

sometimes players just warrant the special treatment. it's like when the dbacks signed randy johnson under buck showalter's watch. buck didn't allow long hair and mustaches. i think the unit kept both initially. allowances . . .

Is it too early to revisit this topic?

Sitting at home during workouts.

Not playing during the preseason.

I think this ended up hurting the team!
