Jacksonville State fell 5-4 in a Sunday game at New Mexico State.

The Gamecocks fell behind 5-0 before scoring three times on a Kailey Martin home run in the top of the fourth inning and once on Martin’s solo shot in the sixth.

Jacksonville State dropped to 20-9 overall and 4-2 in Conference USA.

What to know

—Jaliyah Holmes (5-3) started and pitched 2⅓ innings, allowing three home runs and five runs, including four earned.

—Jordan Eslinger worked the final 3⅔ innings and gave up two hits and no runs. She has allowed one earned run in her last 12⅔ innings across four games.

—Megan Rasmussen pinch hit and delivered a single. In 15 pinch-hitting opportunities this year, she is 4-for-10 with five walks.

—Martin was 2-for-4 with the two homers and four RBIs.

—Emma Elrod was 1-for-3 with a walk.

—Morgan Nowakowski was 1-for-4.

—Amber Reed was 1-for-4 with a double.

—Haleigh Cushingberry was 1-for-2 with a stolen base.

—Jacksonville State, which is in third place in the CUSA standings, will host league Liberty (23-4, 5-0) on Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at noon and Sunday at 11 a.m.
