If available, should Cards use their R3 pick to select this possible all pro or HofF LB. Personally, this is the kind of stud the Steelers would grab in front of us and hit a home run with.
This is why GMs can't sleep. He's too good to pass if your medical staff clears him to play for sure in 2017. The Cards won't get many shots at a player of this caliber if they keep winning and they will keep winning. He can set the tone for a defense for 4+ years. I'm big on taking the Super Bowl shot and going all in, but this player is the exception.

Yep best LB I've seen in 5 years instincts, speed off the field no questions. It's all on the medical don't care if he sees the field this yearI would take this guy in the first round let alone the third. Right now he is one of my top few players that I want us to take. Its all on the medical staff. What they say goes. If they say he will make a full recovery I take him even if he doesn't play a down in 2016.
ROUND 1
If youre a Cardinals fan, the answer is YES
"You gotta risk it to get the biscuit" is this teams creed
But..
no buts.
Answers Yes. IF youre scared, follow a different team
a player in the first round who has a better chance of retiring in a year than being a perennial pro bowler.
I'm reminded of the Patriots rookie RB, forget his name, who had an awesome rookie season, tore up his knee playing beach football or something like that, and boom, career over. Nerve damage in his knee was the problem....
Saw Smith on the NFL Network. 24 reps at 225 and he reported that he's leg pressing 600 lb and squatting 400. It's a nerve issue and like CP a few years back, one doesn't know when it will start firing again.
Says who? Not 1 authority has said "there is permanent damage". Zero. Its 100% speculation.
Just like it was speculation on La'el Collins.
Cops said "He. is. not. a. suspect." and yet all 32 teams speculated he was.
1 year later, hes still not a suspect.
Speculation = fear.
No room for fear on this team
That's not a comparable situation. Collins dropped because of that situation plus character issues. Teams wanted to draft him but his agent told him not to because he wanted to choose his team. Smith is a significant injury
It's been known that there is nerve damage involved, which creates enough doubt about his football career. Plus, as I said, if he's not drafted in the first round (which is the likely scenario), and doctors don't give him a vote of confidence for his future, his $5,000,000 non-taxable insurance policy would be more valuable than a 2nd round or later contract.
That's enough doubt to not only not draft him in the first round, but to take him completely off their draft board.
