The Suns have never drafted first in nearly 50 years of existence! We are overdue!

I am thinking they should just GIVE it to us by default this year.

Absolutely.

Maybe there should be a complex formula with a point system that includes

1. If the team has never won the lottery at all, ever. Teams in this category get 5 points.
2. Whether the team has had the top pick in the last 5 years. Teams in this category deduct 5 points.
3. Current season record. Team with the worst record gets 14 points, second worst 13 points etc. Only for teams that don't make the playoffs.
4. Point differential. 7 points for the team with the best point differential. 6.5 for second best, 6 for third. etc. Reward teams for competing even if they lose.

All these would only be for teams that do not make the playoffs. The team with the most points picks first, no lottery.

If the Suns are not showing at all from the bottom to the number 2 pick, I think I will have to call 911! Seriously, I may have a heart attack.

BTW. Based upon that formula, the draft would be.

1. Phoenix. 24
2. BK. 18.5
3. LAL. 16
4. Orl. 15
5. NYK. 14.5
6. Phil. 11.5
7. Min. 11

There might be some tanking as teams jockey for individual placement, but not the all-out tanking we see. I did not check about teams beyond seven, so the formula could have meant that some team would leapfrog one of these.
