Fisher gets more out of less than pretty much anyone in the NFL. It'll be interesting to see how that dovetails with this ownership group. Being able to work with Bradford was a pretty bright prize, rather than having to perhaps trade up to get RG3 in the draft.

Michael Lombardi was talking about this on the B.S. Report on Monday, but Fisher is a guy who likes to build from the lines out. The invested a #2 overall pick in Jason Smith three years ago, and a second round pick in Roger Saffold a year ago. Natural move would be to trade down a little, pick up another second-rounder, and get Kalil.

Lot can change between now and mid-April, though.

Don't listen to me. Fisher is solid. Not great, but solid. We'll see...

I really have not idea if he is a good as everything thinks he is. I do know that he will soon find out. I also know that he took a team to a SB and got a team to rally from a terrible start to almost making the playoffs. He also missed the playoffs a few time after successful seaons.

Good hire.

He's dealt with ownership issues and the distraction of a potential (and actual) move.

He's transitioned QBs. He's transitioned RBs.

His teams are always competative - which is a lot more than you can say about the Rams

I think they stick at two and take Blackmon - they have a lot invested in the OL right now and while Kalil would be a nice pick for them, I don't see him getting past MN at 3 (they have a void at LT and Hutch is aging at LG and has 1 year left on his deal). So they are pretty much at 2 and drafting either Kalil there or Blackmon.

Maybe could trade down and grab Jeffrey

They could take Blackmon and a very good OG prospect in the 2nd. If fisher can get lloyd to resign that would be some very nice building blocks on offense (bradford, blackmon, lloyd with stephen jackson still in the mix and amendola returning).

They had an apocolypse in their secondary this year ... health alone will improve that mess and they have some nice pieces elsewhere.

This division is shaping up to be pretty decent and very physical

In all seriousness i like the hire because after two regimes of inexperience(Linehan and Spags)we get alot of experience running the show finally.I'm looking forward to the staff that Fisher puts together.
Many Rams fans wanted to go the hot young OC direction after watching one of the most pathetic displays of ofense in NFL history over the course of the last few years, and with the latest trending of the best teams being led by offensive HC's....not me though,i still believe in a hard nosed defense first. I just hope that Fisher's experience will keep him from handcuffing and micro-managing the offense like Spagnuolo did.

Agreed.

You should be psyched. Fischer is a very good coach.

That being said as a Cardinals fan, I am extremely relieved that Horton is now off the radar screen. Hopefully, nobody else comes knocking at our door about him.

When playing our division, I want to see your team play horribly. When we are not playing each other. I want all the teams in this division to improve.

Tired of the old "NFC West is the worst division in football"

Division just became tougher & I wouldn't at all be suprised to see Fisher's old buddy Greg Williams from the Saints running his D in STL next year. If I'm not mistaken his contract will be up at the end of this season. :bang:

Great Hire for the Rams. Fisher will make them competative in a year or two. However the key will be who they hire to be the GM.

Good coach, but he was competitive more than he was really successful. I think that he brings stability to a team that needs it, but I thought the same about Spags. We will see.

Why all this sudden love for Horton? All he did was finally listen to me and make Sam Acho a starter at OLB.

The NFCW has four great coaches.

This division is no joke.

The NFC West hasn't had two teams with a winning record in the same season since 2003. I have a strong feeling that is about to change.

Don't get all the excitement for Fisher, an average NFL coach who is vastly overrated by a lot of people. i just hope he brings Dave MacGinnis to his staff with him that'll make the hire even more appealing!

He has one more playoff win than CKW in a lot more seasons as a head coach.

Right, but a coach doesn't last 16 seasons w/ one franchise unless he's doing something right.

No one head coach is "great".. It's who they surround themselves with that ultimately makes them "great"

Could Haley draw interest from Fisher as OC? Haley might draw more HC interest in a year or two if he were able to turn that horrid offense around vs the Cards or Jets

Fisher was either 8-8 or 7-9 seven of 16 seasons in Tennessee. That's about as average as you can get. But he also had 5 seasons of 10+ wins and won a couple of Division titles in Divisions where if you lost 4 games you finished 2nd. That's where he generates the excitement.

No no no. Fisher makes the Rams an instant contender. He has, inarguably, the best QB in the division as well as a young offensive line (didn't they draft 2 offensive lineman?) and team. In Tenn he played in a hella-tough division. Year after year, and he did it year after year and has a better track record than our own coach.

He must be looking at our division and salivating. He doesn't have to play all them tough cold-weather teams, he gets to play against us and SF and Seattle. How is that hard for him???

Fisher instantly turns Sam Bradford into a top notch QB in our division, probably the best QB in our division, after coaching Steve Mcnair, and he also gets to coach Stephen Jackson, badass RB, after coaching Eddie freaking George (which some people don't realize was an actual badass). Again, how is that hard for him??

He's already done it.

And this time it's indoors. LOL.

Do not underestimate. Never.

All he needs is a WR or two and he's golden.

He instantly upgrades our division and makes it tougher. Instantly. INSTANTLY.

He is definitely overrated. He coached the Oilers/Titans for 17 years. He had a winning season for only 6 of those seasons. In the six times his team made the playoffs, they went one-and-done in half of those appearances. In 17 years, he has ONE conference championship and lost the subsequent Superbowl. His career winning percentage is only .542.

The Rams won't be at the bottom like they've been recently, but if a lot of 8-8 seasons makes them happy, then they've got their man.

If Jeff Fisher gets this type of treatment and gets to pick where he wants to coach, then I'd be interested to see what guys like Cowher and Dungy could command if they chose to return to coaching. They are actual winners and have Superbowl rings.

Dude, a .542 winning percentage (after 17 years) would put him...well, where he was, commanding any coaching job in the league. You also seem unaware that he's already chosen the Rams, which he did. Yes, he did get to pick, and he chose the Rams dude. Let's at least stay current, you dig? He had Eddie George and Steve McNair in contention just about every year. Now he's with the Rams with, what I consider, a better QB and a better RB, in a much weaker division. He was fighting against the Ravens during their glory days on defense man, he was fighting the Pats in the snow. Cmon man. You been watching football much the past 20 years? There's only 32 NFL head coaching jobs in the WORLD, it's an elite group, and he's elite.

(And just FYI, his .542 winning percentage that you deride would put him in the top 50 coaches of all time in the NFL. Let's get our sh*t straight)
